Only 3 km south of Patong, this beach is famed for its five-kilometre long white beach sand that squeaks under your feet. Mostly single row sunbeds decked along the stretch offer unsurpassed and unblocked views. Turtles are periodic nocturnal visitors to the beach. Recreational activities at this beach include paragliding, windsurfing, snorkeling, and volleyball. Thai Massage and reflexology are also offered on the beach.

This hotell lies in an unpleasent part of Phuket, Karon beach, although in my opinoin Phuket isnt a very pleasent place at all. The hotell it elfholds a spa of whick I have no experience, a fitness center with a rack of free weights, two bicyles and a treadmill. The breakfests are very good. the best part of the hotell are the roms big, spacous, clean, […] nice and well equiped, also the bathrooms were way over average. Hotell restaurants were slightly more pricey then the adjacent restuarants. The pool area is nice. The staff is generelly very helpfull and accomendating! The real only problem I had with the staff was during my first night as I had taken an earlier flight then my travel mat. The staff seemed to be supsicous and often questioened where I hade been if I had gone out on my own, why Im traveling alone and such. Not recomended for a final stay but geat hotel for a few nights! "The Alpina resort Karong/Kata -great locale"
A group of 6 of us where traveling together. Gran, teens, a 30 somthing year old, and a couple in thier 40's. Although we are family we had very different ideas about what good location would be in Phuket. We stayed in Patong a few days and that was a bit overwhelming. We moved to the Alpina for the week of Christmas and the best time ever! Friendly […] staff, clean and comfortable rooms, good food, and great shuttle to the semi private beach every hour! An average hotel which has a potential to be much better if they had refurbished the rooms, towels and linens. Rooms are large but the beds too hard for my liking. Wi-fi connection is free but signal is poor so it's difficult to connect. Some staff are able to speak english. The best things about the hotel is the spacious pool and the beautiful 'private' […] beach at Kata (which is next to the club med section). Location is about 15 mins walk to the beach although they have an hourly shuttle bus that runs from 8am to 5pm. There are shops (and a 7-11) near the hotel and a 20-30 mins walk gets you to Kata and Karon eateries and shop. Tuk tuks back to the hotel from kata and karon cos about 200 baht , to patong about 400 baht and taxi to the airport about 600-700 baht. "Good Hotel with Star facilities"
The hotel is not exacly at beach and the location is not very convenient or attractive. But the hotel is very good with excellent view of nicely maintained garden and swimming pool. Good hotel to enjoy hotel room and not far away from Karon beach. Sandeep

Had a lovely time here, hotel had a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Staff and service were excellent and would certainly love to go back. Was in a lovely quiet relaxed area near to restaurants, bars and shops. Transport to beach provided every hour. Couldn't have wished for a nicer place.

Arriving at the hotel in the late evening, all seemed fine, where they presented us with a free drink while we checked in. After taking our credit card details for any extra charges, they presented us with a piece of paper that informed us, due to some flooding, there was no television, no telephone, no internet, and no restaurants at the hotel. they […] had arranged for a bus to take us to another hotel for the breakfast that we had paid for in advance. of course, we weren't very happy, but they had a flood, so we just said okay. We were given our key card and the bellboy brought our bags to the fourth floor. The corridor is covered by a roof, but is open to the side. Due the rain, the floor was quite wet. As we walked further down the corridor, the lights weren't working. The bell boy told us it was due to the rain, and an electrician was coming to fix the lights. He carried on walking down a very long, dark, wet corridor, at which point the water on the floor was so deep, our feet were getting soaked. At the room, the key card didn't work. So, we went back to reception, to ask for a different room, as it was pitch black and soaking wet and we weren't very happy. The lady at reception then gave us a different room, wiithout an apology. At the second room, we were greeted with a mess. The beds had not been made, and the place had clearly not been cleaned from the previous guests. There was a cot for a baby in the corner, and the room smelled like urine. So, again, we went back to reception, and asked for another room. The third room was clean, and tidy, and not down a dark corridor, so all looked good, except the air conditioning was leaking water on the floor. We took the room anyway, because we were tired and didn't want to run the risk of getting a worse room if we complained again. The next morning, the shower was cold. "Spacious room in good location"
Outlook of the hotel is not attractive but I would like to highlight that the hotel location is convenient, with parking space in front of the lobby which is very convenient for drivers, room is very spacious and comfortable, breakfast is okay if you don't expect too much. The rates is reasonable and worthy of money.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were just brilliant in every aspect, the pool was pristine, the gardens and surrounding landscaping well maintained. The housekeeping staff and groundsmen were very professional and accomodating. The buffet Breakfast was always hot and plentiful. We had a classic suite on the 4th […] floor overlooking the pool which was very suitable as it was close to the lifts. My Partner & I are already saying that we are going back next year. The location of the hotel is close enough to everything and even easier if you hire a motorbike., There are approx. 10 massage shops along the roadway the hotel is located on and a foot massage is a standard price at all, 7 eleven store is about 30 metres down the road and tour guide stands all the way along the street, some even do laundry service as well, which you will find cheap and there's a little restaurant across the road with great food at very reasonable prices and you can even get your food to take away back to your room if you like. Heaps of eateries close by and the hotel runs its own shuttle bus to a piece of the beach privately reserved for Alpina guests. We had a motorbike so rode along the beachfront and noticed that all the bigger hotels had a section of the beach allocated to their guests with umbrellas, deckchairs and a shop of sorts to sell food & drinks to guests. The beach at Kata Beach is just magnificent, clean fine sand, no litter, but there were signs indicating you swim at your own risk as there are no lifeguards that I noticed and there are "rips", but its fine close to the shore line for a paddle. Alpina Nalina is ia nice resort and pretty big too but we found the resort quite empty maybe because of non peak season. The pool was great, location is bit far from the beach as i would like. They beautifully decorated the bed for us on request. Rooms were fine. The SPA facilities were good. The hotel's services are extremely limiting and even though you are staying at the resort they still find a need to rip you off drastically on the transportation to the airport!

Very nice property... first night w a little jet lag we were put in a room within spitting distance of the back door of a bar. It was WAY too loud to sleep. The room was 1101 and they moved us to a different very nice room. It was the low season, so they were accommodating. I'm not sure what would happen if they were full. "Nice place that is value for money"
Room is huge and comfortable! Place has a great pool that is perfect for relaxing. We had problems with getting into our room because the room access card could not open the room door initially. Staff could also be friendier and more helpful. Overall, place is value for money if you don't mind lukewarm response from staff.

My sister and I stayed for 3 nights and was sad to leave. We tend to hotel hop so it was hard to say goodbye to Alpina. The pool was SUPER nice. Breakfast was average. Location was great. 10 minute walk leads you to many shops along the streets and a 20 minute walk from hotel leads you to Kata Beach, the cleanest and most beautiful beach in Phuket […] (ask anyone). There is also a free shuttle bus every hour to the beach. Hotel's surrounding environment is quiet and peaceful...away from the loud tourist hot spots. Away from the annoying the cheap bars, taxis and Tuk Tuk drivers who bother you every time you exit from hotel. Perfect place for families and couples who just want to relax. And it is not far from the shopping, Thai Massages, and coffee shops. Just need to walk a little and explore. Highly recommend this hotel. Lesa meira
"Rejuvinating Resort"
I took a family vacation to Alpina and the stay was incredible. Phuket is arguably among the most beautiful places on earth and a stay at Alpina helped add to the beauty. Very well maintained resort with a beautiful ambiance. The swimming pool running across the hotel was a key highlight. The rooms were surprisingly huge and ideal for relaxation. The […] staff were friendly and courteous and did every bit to make you feel at home. In addition to amazing rooms and services, an awesome pool, great food, the resort also offered its own private beach complete with hourly rides to and from the beach and all beach accessories. The breakfast buffet was great and there isn't a single aspect of the resort you could complain about. I had a wonderful experience and felt compelled to write this review. And best of all, I couldn't imagine the kind of 5-star luxury would ever be available at such great costs. A cost-effective luxury resort with great comfort. I had a satisfying experience. Only flip-side: The resort is too secluded with practically nothing to see in the surrounding area but I dont think I ever had the need to go wander out alone because with such great services within and the breathtaking beach, who would want to venture out alone? Word of caution: Instead of relying on the resort travel desk and taxi services, go out of the resort and look for the nearby tour and travel agents. The agents outside offer some great bargains and discounts for taxi services and all package trips and tours. Phuket indeed is an incredible place to be in and Alpina Resort is a must stay. Its a good quite hotel, but the food needs to be improved to be internatinal cousins, especially for muslims meals. The staff are very friendly and help full, some rooms are near the disco or bar with load noise but the hotels shifted us to quite room after complain.

Hotel located in quiet Kata beach near the local residential area where you can enjoy both Kata beach tourist attractions and the local street food venders and markets. Hotel's pool is quiet and spacious. The room i stay is clean and well maintained. I met many friendly staffs there. They all like to help a guest.

"Alpina Nalina, great location and great service"
Great location, not exactly near the beach but not too far from it as well. You can either choose to walk to Kata beach (10 minutes walk) or the provided shuttle service (pick up truck converted to accommodate 6 passengers), which provides hourly trips to the beach from 8AM to 5PM. Also take note the shuttle service brings you to a portion of the beach […] which is taken care by the staff of Alpina, so you don't have to worry about beach towels or getting a seat as they are all provided by the hotel. Service was fantastic, as the moment my wife and me checked in, they provided us us fruit juice, which was refreshing after a 1 hour ride on the minibus from the airport. The only problem was I woke up with a TON of bug bites that I did not go to bed with, not exactly sure how I acquired them, the other person in the room with me didn't have any so who knows. This place also has a cool pool and a really good italian restaurant (random I know)

Reading past reviews I was not sure what to expect but booked anyway, the hotel itself is beautiful and their pictures do not do it justice, it is a mini paradise with everything you need not too far away while still being removed from some of the not so charming aspects of the near by patong beach. It's about 20 min by taxi so close enough if you want […] to experience the night life there. Hotel resort was clean. Staff were polite and patient. Overall experience was pleasant. Tested 2 pools for sanitizers and found them ok. Was advised not to drink tap water. Bottled water was provided daily free of charge. Tested tap water and found only traces of chlorine sanitizer on each of 6 days tested.

the ladies at the front desk were rude, the wait staff at the restaurant was slow but everything else was great. love how they have their swimming pool directly out your back door.
"Better than one might expect...but..."
This hotel, insofar as the room is concerned, provides decent value for the money. The location in Phuket is fine...not far from local shops, good restautants and Kata Beach. The breakfast is quite good and the lunch around the pool is not bad. Dinner choices are somewhat limited but tasty. All of that notwithstanding, there is one serious downside. […] The service provided by the hotel staff is dismal at best. At checkout, we went through a 30 minute ordeal where the hotel cashier very blatantly attempted to overcharge us. She printed a copy of our bill but hit us for a late checkout fee for the 2 rooms I reserved. In order to avoid this, we had previously contacted the hotel management and they told me there would be no extra charge for only 90 minutes extra in our rooms. The cashier was indignant about removing the charges until I refused to pay the entire bill or see a manager. The cashier disappeared for 10 minutes to confer with the manager herself. When she returned, the late fee was dropped. She ran the incidental charges through on my credit card and billed me for the late check out charge that was to be dropped. I questioned the charges again and reminded her that the charges were to be removed. She gruffly credited my card and rebilled my credit card the proper amount. One room down...one to go. On the second room, there were no extra charges. But the cashier informed me that drinking glasses were missing from the room and said that we would have to pay extra for the missing glasses. I asked how many glasses there were supposed to be and I was told "2". I asked the occupants of the second room if they had broken the glasses. They told me that they hadn't...that they had left 2 glasses on the sink in the bathroom. I told the Cashier that housekeeping should check the bathroom. She called, spoke to housekeeping, hung up and said the glasses weren't there and suggested that we must have taken the glasses. One of the persons who was staying in that room, ran back Lesa meira
"Pleasant Stay"
Nice and comfortable hotel at a reasonable price. Staff friendly however it's located all the way south of Phuket island (1 hour from airport). I found the area relatively quiet mainly Nordic and other Eastern European visitors and not much to do after 11pm

No one seemed to know how to handle my complaint. Too long to explain - the bottom line is I was frustrated the way they handled my issue.
"Alpina - Run down..In desperate need of a makeover"
The Alpina was a HUGE HUGE let down. We had booked in for 8 days but only stayed for 4. The ladies on reception would not even look at us each time we walked passed they were too busy chatting away at one point they were dancing and giggling as we waited for our tour. Even our early check out seemed to put them out. The pool lounges were old and had […] what seemed to be the original covers as they were so faded they were almost white. We had booked a pool access room and the smell that was coming from the pool was unbearable. Our king bed was 2 queen beds pushed together with 2 doonas on top. When the beds are separated there are 2 lamps attached to the wall which made it difficult to sleep together when the bed is pushed together. The bed felt again like it was the original bed it was like laying on concrete The tour desk knew nothing. We selected a tour to James Bond that was a tour from hell..... The boat was over crowded, 1 1/2 hours late to start so we missed half of the itinerary, food was awful. Nothing was appealing at the Alpina. We will never be staying there again. Lesa meira

Unfortunately I only got to spend one night here, did not arrive until 3am because of delay in flight and they were still there at Reception waiting for me. Was not expecting the buffet breakfast to be included in the price either which it was. Used the day spa and had a 3 hour pamper which was part of a special they had on which was amazing. "Alpina Phuket - conveniently located"
The Alpina is located in Kata Beach. It is away from the rat race of Patong but not isolated. One step out of the resorts doors are located restaurants, shops and convenience stores. Lovely hotel for a very reasonable price. We were upgraded to a pool access room which was lovely. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Hotel is about 15min walk to the beach but the hotel provides an hourly shuttle bus both ways. Hotel has loungers and umbrellas on a lovely stretch of Kata Yai beach and the pool area is beautiful with plently of sunloungers […] and a great pool bar. "Alpina Phuket Nalina Resort - unforgettable"
Had the most amazing experience at Alpina! We stayed in a Jaz room and it was wonderful with direct access from our balcony to a private pool (definitely recommend for an extra few dollars). Room was large and clean with the most enormous bed. Shower was huge! Resort was beautiful with a super pool and a fantastic live band every night. Breakfast was […] delicious with a great selection each day. Staff were most welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay so memorable. The hotel provides a shuttle every hour where we had a private section on the beach with deck chairs, sun umbrella and towels provided. Massages are available right next to this area which are highly recommended! The beach is only a 10 minute walk from the resort, so you don't have to rely on the shuttle. If you want to do a day trip, the hotel offers a tourist desk where you can book day trips. We booked the Bamboo Island-Phi Phi island tour (do the Phuket Master Travel one) and it was brilliant. Well worth paying a little bit more as we only had 16 people on our boat, compared to 45 on other tour boats. Had the most memorbale day there and snorkelling amongst the fish and coral was unforgettable! Alpina is a short stroll to the main shops and restaurants. If you want a good place to eat, across the road is Thai Thai (sooo cheap) and the most beautiful Thai food and unbelievable setting you MUST try Sawasdee (just around the corner). Alpina has a fantastic spa and has special offers for massages (it's worth paying that little). We can't wait to return to Alpina as we had the best holiday ever! Lesa meira
"Alpina Resort - Great Rooms, shame about the rest"
We booked four nights at the Alpina Resort for a little luxury at the end of our holiday in Thailand. Upon arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner and shown to our room which was just as lovely as the photographs had suggested. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. When we made the reservation we also decided to include breakfast, which […] was lovely and good value for money. However, there are serveral problems and incidents that occured throughout our stay that would make me not want to return to the hotel again. One of the big problems I believe was the attitude of the staff. Everything that we requested or enquired about always appeared to be too much trouble. Even when we asked for towels at the pool the boy rolled his eyes at us and tutted as he went off to get them. On one occasion we witnessed a member of staff trying to force their way into our room. We were in the room at the time and were suddenly aware the there was somebody attempting to open the door, but not getting very far as the bolt was across. The door closed, but was tried again. By this time I had made it to the door and opened it to inquire why someone was trying to force the door with neither need nor knocking. I was greeted by a male and female member of staff who seemed most suprised to see me there but they gave neither apology nor reason and simply stated they had the wrong room, before disappearing down the corridor. Possibly the most shocking incident occured after leaving the hotel. As our flight was very early in the morning and we had already payed for our breakfast we requested a breakfast box to take with us on our journey. Not only was the box rather on the pathetic side, with butterless, stale cheese sandwiches, dry croissants and two limes to eat, my friend also found a cockroach, still very much alive, in the box along with her breakfast. "Alpina Phuket Nalina Resort"
The staffs working in the resort are all very friendly and really makes me feel comfortable and at home. The room is very clean and I exceptionally love the king size bed with the soft pillow. And I do not need to request for extra pillow as they provide more than I needed. Swimming pool clean and big to catered to the number of guests in the resort. […] Food in the resort are delicious. The only con I can name of is that the location of the resort is not directly off from the beach and thus need to walk about 10 min for beach lovers. But overall it is a quiet and peaceful place to stay in if guest wants tranquility and away from the buzz of the city. I will and have already recommended some friends about this resort. And I will most definitely goes back to this resort again. Lesa meira

"Alpina Hotel - great service and clean rooms..."
I had read another review that the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. That was definitely true. I asked them for several favors and they were all granted except for getting a clock in the room. That was one annoying thing to me since I didn't have a clock or watch with me. But the room was clean and they even took care of my duty-free purchases […] for the second night while I was staying at a different hotel. The hotel's location isn't too bad for getting to Phuket Town and it is very close to Chalong Bay (from which you can get to several islands to the south) and the zoo. There were a couple issues with stuff not being in perfect repair like a towel rack that had been pulled down a bit and a flourescent light in the bathroom that flashed when it was "off" for a while like a strobe light. Neither were a big issue and I didn't even mention them to the staff. Lesa meira
Séjour excellent de 10 jours en famille dans cette ile de Phuket aux très nombreuses activités. Superbe hotel Alpina de grande classe près de Kata Beach, une des plus propres plages de Phuket avec transat, serviette, parasol et navette de l'hotel gratuits. Les chambres sont très grandes, service impeccable et amabilité du personnel Thai irréprochable, […] très bon niveau d'anglais, une très grande piscine. Un petit déjeuner et des repas très variés (Thai, international , italien et menu enfant) et de grande qualité. Seule remarque, le niveau sonore du duo chantant trop fort pour savourer les plats pendant le diner. Le tout à des prix plus que raisonnables. A recommander Lesa meira
