Weatherstation Inn – Key West

Very nice place and great location. The price was a little high but it was probably worth it. The hotel was unatended when we arrived, but there were instructions on basically checking ourselves in. It kind of felt like a treasure hunt and was a little fun and different.

We got a great welcome from Barbara who was the most informative & helpful keeper of the Weatherstation. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she recommended eateries and activities which was so useful when we were only staying two nights. The position of the hotel was ideal for sightseeing on foot. WE WERE TO HAVE A GROUND FLOOR UNIT, BUT OFFERED US THIRD FLOOR WITH BALCONY AT CHECK IN... WE TOOK IT IN SPITE OF ALOT OF OUTDOOR STAIRS LEADING UP TO ROOM. LOVED IT!!! This inn is located in a very convenient and quiet location. The large room was decorated nicely and the king size bed was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Quiet, nice and safe neighborhood on an historic street near the sea and harbor and at a walking distance of everything. Great reception and information from the innkeepers James and Barbara who made our visit to Key West worthwhile. The Banana Room very comfortable ( air conditioned outside a little bit noisy ). Remember it is an historic, well renovated […] building, not a sound proof bunker... The breakfast basket was nice by the pool and quite full of everything ! ( I would have like the croissants to be crispier like the french ones, a bowl of milk and cereals would have been nice and since I am french, a strong bowl of Italian coffee with milk would have been the ultimate blessing ) . This place was great. I've stayed in Truman Annex before and it is very quiet but conveniently located near Duval Street. We stayed midweek and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. The pool was small but nice and they leave a picnic basket outside your door early in the morning with some great breakfast items so you can eat in your room […] if you choose. The Weatherstation is a real gem. It has a great location in Truman Annex, a lovely, quiet gated community near Mallory Square. Our room was well appointed and the staff was enthusiastic and very helpful. When we return to Key West, we will definitely return to the Weatherstation.

Fantastic staff who feel much more like a host family than hotel staff. This gem is in a quiet gated neighborhood close to the nicest beach on the island. It is also 2 blocks away from everything! Rent some bicycles and enjoy your time at this gorgeous house.

What a great B&B!!! Very helpful staff to meet any of your needs. Thank you too James and Barbara. Close enough to all the Duval Street action, yet, far enough away to get a peaceful nights sleep. Being located inside the Truman Annex makes it feel like you are a resident of Key West during your visit. Safe and secure due to the fenced premises of the […] Annex that are locked at 6pm. You get a key to unlock the gate to come and go as you please. The inside of the Inn was spotless with a lot of charm. The grounds of the Weatherstation are well manicured and very inviting. The pool/patio area are very relaxing, peaceful and secluded to help you unwind and enjoy paradise. Make sure you check out Kelly's right outside the gate. We will definitely return to the Weatherstation Inn on our next visit to Key West. Lesa meira

The Weatherstation Inn has a delightful location within the private, gated, Truman Estate. There is a welcoming feel to the whole of the property including Barbara and James who will help cater for all your needs. Our room, 'Artisan', was tastefully decorated and spacious with superb air-con that could barely be heard in this oasis of tranquility - […] unbelievably so as it is barely a hop and skip from Duval Street and Mallory Square. All of the property is tastefully decorated and immaculately maintained, including the pool area, which is not large but peaceful with plenty of shade if required after a hot day in the sun. If you are in Key West, there's lots to do and see and all within easy walking distance from this property on the amazing 'gated' section of Key West. A very special piece of paradise. My only slight reservation is breakfast: the concept of breakfast in a hamper out side one,s door is a lovely one but the contents of the hamper disappointed as everything else was excellent. I can't say enough good things about the Weatherstation. My husband and I have been to Key West a few times. We've stayed at the Hilton (now the Wyndham), the Hyatt and rented a small house. This is by far my favorite! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The inn provides breakfast every morning. It comes in a pretty basket, which we took […] down to the pool and ate there. It's a great location, close to duval and all the action but in the Truman Annex, so it's nice and quiet at night. Also, unlike the bigger hotels, you don't have to pay extra for parking. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect rating is that we had toilet in our room that kept running. But we didn't consider it a big deal given that it's an older building. Great place. Bed and breakfast experience was suberb. Lavender room with balcony has great view. Furnishing were wonderful. Inside Truman Anex was very secure. Area was beautiful. Could not imagine any where else on the island more secluded and quiet and within walking distance of all the fun of duval street.

In the short time we were there we observed hotel staff literally scolding two different sets of guests for "being too loud" (which we felt was completely inappropriate of the hotel staff). My friend and I stayed here after completing an exhausting 199 mile trek from Miami to Key West in the Ragnar Race. The bed was the most comfortable thing in the world and we were delighted to wake up in the morning to a breakfast goodie basket outside our door. This hotel in Key West is intimate, like a B&B, but with more services. Excellent location, wonderful staff (James in particular), comfortable rooms. In great area, adjacent to the action but insulated from any noise. The best thing about this unusual B&B is its location, within the gated and beautiful Truman Annex just a few buildings away from Truman's winter White House. It is also close to Mallory Square and all the most popular attractions of Key West. As a semi-handicapped person (I'm on a cane) I appreciated the effort they made to have their small but adequate […] elevator available to get me to our 1st floor room and back to the parking lot. It jiggled a lot, but served its purpose. My only objection was that there is not breakfast room though a continental breakfast is provided. We enjoyed the Weatherstation Inn because of its complete charm, the excellence of Barbara and James (who are in charge of its operation), the fabulous location in the Truman Annex, the delightful breakfasts, free and safe on-site parking available, and the comfortable room. Our biggest disappointment was the terrible internet service; many days or […] evenings it failed entirely, and it never worked well (I logged onto the nearby "belkin" server which gave superior connections). The room we had was much too small for two people, but most of the bedrooms in the Inn are significantly larger, I think. So commented our traveling companions upon arriving at the Weatherstation Inn. Its location in the Truman Annex has the feel of a botanical garden. Hard to believe you are just a short walk from Mallory Square and Duval Street. Our days began with a leisurely continental breakfast on our balcony - fresh pastries, delicious orange juice, and good coffee. […] After spending the middle of the day exploring Key West, we spent the hottest part of the day in the cool comfort of the garden and pool. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room comfortable and well kept. If I had to find any fault it would be that the pillows were a bit hard for our taste - barely worth mentioning. The Weatherstation Inn is a jewel. This was our third multi-day stay in Key West. We'll be back, and this will be our preferred lodging for future visits. Lesa meira

My wife and I were really impressed with the Weatherstation Inn. The location was perfect...close enough to walk to the action, but a quiet retreat when we were ready to come back. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the shower! Morning pastries were good, but six days of them were a bit much. Fantastic location, in a gated residential area. Neat building with a very nicely landscaped yard. Very nice breakfast each morning. You couldn't ask for nicer people that are in charge. I rated 4 and 5. The 5's speak for themselves as very satisfied. I will explain the 4's. Maintenance-when we arrived the drain in the sink stayed closed not draining- […] I called- they came but it still did not drain. Kind of annoying to brush your teeth and it takes 10-15 min. for the spit to drain. Comfort of room- the website says they cater to couples, but there is only one chair in the room, which means one person must sit on the bed and the TV is on the side. The other thing that may not bother most guest - this is a two story building - 4 units first floor 4 units second floor, If your room is on the second floor and you have 40-50 pound luggage you must carry the luggage up a long straight stairs with 30+ steps. This was our 2nd trip to Key West & we loved the beautiful, historic WS Inn. The heated pool/deck was a great spot to eat breakfast or hang out. Easy walk to the Fort Zachary State Park and downtown points of interest. We would stay there again.

The Truman Annex is close to Mallory Square but separated by locked fences. The former naval station is now an upscale gated community with condos and a B&B in the old weather station. Staff are very accommodating. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. Breakfast lacks some healthy alternatives to the variety of sweet rolls. A good experience.
