Holiday Inn Express Ramsgate - Minster – Birchington

We 'discovered' Holiday Inns Express some time ago and now would not stay anywhere esle. Always exactly what we expect from a clean, reliable hotel with excellent staff.

Hotel was lovely rooms spotless and shower wonderful. Room over looked a field so very quiet considering we where on a busy road we didn't hear a thing. Staff very friendly and helpful at check in, bar and breakfast. Breakfast was complimentary which we didn't expect so that was a bonus and there was free parking as well. The price for our room couldn't […] have been beaten either as we looked on line around the area first before booking. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. Very happy with Hotel, but had to ask for hot dishes at breakfast to be replenished several times before it was done. Staff need to monitor this more carefully. Those up very early get to the buffet and leave little for others if not checked....not a difficult thing to do! Shouldn't need to ask....twice!

Nice hotel for stop over,decent staff,clean tidy room only thing not great was hot breakfast which was scrambled eggs,sausage and beans only ,i'd stay again though if in area

Overnight stay before heading off to Dover. Real value for money if booked well in advance, very clean rooms and surrounding area. Quiet rooms and a good nights sleep was had. Simple light breakfast was sufficient. Would stay again and highly recommended

Friendly and helpful staff at reception. As a party of 3 it was nice to have all beds ready on arrival and tea/coffee making available for 3 and not 2 as usual. Coffee to go at breakfast was a nice touch. Would stay there again.

The aircon was rubbish / not easy to tunr off. The room too cold at times (it was very cold outside) and the extractor fan in the bathroom did not function. Breakfast was a bit of a trial to find a table and they did not stock things up quickly. However for the price it was okay and the reception staff were as least helpful.

Room rate is good, which includes nice English breakfast (not full but close) . Free internet at lobby is acceptable. Recommendable for cardrivers.

Stayed here in November 2012 the night before playing golf at Royal St George. Rooms are basic but clean and in very good condition, perfect for a few nights. Travellers should note that they are no baths in the rooms, it's all walk in showers. The bar is uninspiring however there is a nice pub across the road named 'the Smugglers Retreat. Breakfast […] is fine, not the biggest selection but good enough. Its close to Kent Airport and right on the main road but I wasn't disturbed by noise in the slightest. There's a small Spitfire museum nearby which is worth a visit also. Would happily recommend but only as a stop over. Lesa meira

nice hotel very quiet considering it was on the main road,warm and frielndly,breakfast was a bit hap-hazard more continental than cooked but there was plenty to eat.

The room temperarature control seems preset at + 18 c.The room got colder early morning .As a result I came out with a bad cold .Overall ok.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness, size,facilities and layout of the room,we had everything we needed although a few more tea bags etc would have been nice . Unfortunately,our bed had definitely seen better days and was much too soft and 'rocky', but the sofa bed was firmer. Have used Holiday inn Southhampton before. The room was smelling of damp, the bed was small.The staff was freindly, & breakfast bufet had option to take away coffe, which was useful.

We had booked a non-smoking twin bedded room. On arrival we had been allocated a smoking room. We explained my husband is asthmatic so a non-smoking was important. We were told that booking on the internet meant we had booked a "standard room" and this could be smoking or non-smoking. We said we had not been aware of this, in fact we thought all hotels […] were non-smoking. We were then told that whether hotels offered smoking rooms was up to the hotel and the company we booked with, ie Experdia, should have informed us that we may be allocated a smoking room. Our booking form did show us as booked ina 2 bed, non-Smoking. It also said our request would be forwarded to the property but was not guaranteed. However we did not realise, nor were we told, that this meant we might end up in a smoking room. The hotel did eventually put us in a non-smoking disabled room which was ok but obviously geared to the needs of the disabled rather than able bodied. It would be nice if people booking rooms like this through Expedia were made aware this might happen because there are often medical reasons why a non-smoking room is requested. Lesa meira

The outside of the hotel looked rather uninviting as there was litter everywhere and it looked very neglected, but on entering the foyer we were pleasantly surprised to see it was immaculate inside. What a contrast, the place looked and smelt so clean and fresh, and so was our room which we changed from the original booking without any problem. The […] staff were very pleasant and helpful, so I cannot praise this hotel too highly, and the price was very reasonable. Quite a nice choice for breakfast also, although described as continental, it did have some hot items including scrambled eggs, sausages and beans as well. Would definately recommend it. The one thing I would recommend is that there is more information on their website to direct guests to the entrance as it is easily missed, and once that happens it is a long drive past to the nearest turn round to go back. I wanted a no smoking room as I have 2 very young children - the room that we got was a smoking room - a mix up somewhere. The staff were very good about it but as the hotel was fully booked an air freshener & an open window just about did the job - lesson learned - always phone & check that your booking is what you think it is!!

This is the second year in a row that we stayed in the Holiday Inn express Ramsgate, highly recommended, great value for money and will return again.

Room was small for the booking of 3 adults and one child. However it was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful when we asked for extra pillows. Smugglers retreat restaurant over the road was good value and service. Hotel location was good to travel to local attractions.
