Terrible hotel. Don't be fooled by the pictures. The only nice place in the hotel is the lobby and, of course, the beach was fine. But I was actually scared to walk through the halls of the hotel at night. Low class is the best description I can come up with. Loved the hotel! The front desk was awesome. The only thing, that could have been better was if the breakfast was included with the price of the room.

"close to the ocean"
Our stay was ok. There were some issues with our room, the bathroom was old, the tub did not drain properly so when I had a shower I ended up standing in 4 inches of water by the time I was done. The rest of the room was decent and fairly clean. Another issue was that we were assigned a room on the first floor and our patio was right in front of the […] pool. There was no privacy so we had to keep our curtains closed the entire week because people looked in and put their lounge chairs right in front of our patio. We didn't enjoy the days because it felt like we were confined to our hotel room and didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine by opening the curtains and/or standing out on our patio. For future bookings it should be asked if guests mind to be located on the first floor before confirming the room. The WiFi was not reliable, the maximum amount of time I was able to use it was in 5 minute intervals, then I would lose connectivity and wasn't able to log on again for a few hours. The closeness to the ocean and to the local shops was convenient. The bowling alley and bar located on the 6th floor was fun. Bartender - Tiffany - was one of the best ever! Lesa meira

"Captains quarters"
Great price with great amenities if you have children. Rooms were not to pleasant. Bathrooms WAY to small. Shower got hot if someone in a different room used there water. Decore in rooms were just ugly. Used a foldaway bed for one of our kids and it had trash inside when we opened it...grosss.....if you don't stay in the room much the hotel is great. […] Bring everything you need because they dont have extras if you forget something like your toothbrush or shaver. Breakfast was really good. Lesa meira

the only problem i had was, when i booked the room on hotel.com i asked and paid for an oceanfront room, but my room was on the 1st floor in front of the pool, and the ocean view wasn't great, but the hotel was nice and i would stay again. i would just make sure i have a true oceanfront view.

Hotel was very nice. We had the King Bed Ocean Front room. We loved the layout of the room. Housekeeping was awesome. Pools and hot tubs were nice. Only thing I would've liked different was a free breakfast. But still, it was a great place and would return.

Firstly, we were not impressed as we entered the room, as it didn't look ANYTHING like the pictures shown online. I told the front desk person about the room not reflecting the pictures online and she said something about "when we book with a third party, they have no control", I think this is just an excuse as we met other guests there who had booked […] directly with them and they got rooms similar to ours. The room was quite small for my kids and husband who are much taller than I (5'10"+). The kitchen had a cockroach egg stuck inside one of the cupboards. A sprayer was going around asking one of the days of our stay if we would like to have the room sprayed. (NOT a good idea for when one sleeps in it) I have allergies and upon my awakening would have my allergies act up. I resorted to sleeping with our balcony doors opened and that's how it was OK for me in the mornings. I informed front desk that the balcony door handle was broken upon our arrival (not by us) and to have it documented in order for us not to be charged for the repairs. And for it to be repaired while we were in the room. On Monday night, a young regular looking teen showed up and knocked once and then proceeded to open the door while we were still in the room, apparently for "room service", I immediately called front desk as I was fearful that some previous guest still had access to the room, and they told me that they didn't have us as having been registered (this was after 6pm). We got to the hotel much earlier (8:30 am) on the 10th and they told us that the registering was at 3pm, but they told us they would call us (we gave them my husband's cellular number) if the room was cleaned before that time so we can go in earlier than that, so they did call my husband at approx. 1:30pm to let us know that the room was now available. So I don't understand how they did not have us registered ??? (quite odd) We needed to use the telephone and NO SERVICE was available to outside calls, again I called fron Lesa meira
"Enjoyable Stay"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The waitress at Vista 9 was a delight serving breakfast. Parking was convenient and felt very safe. Views were wonderful from the oceanfront and the oceanview rooms.

"Captains Quarters Resort- Nice Location"
Enjoyed my stay and loved that the parking garage was attached to the hotel (so we didn't have to scavenge for parking across the street in the rain). Accommodations were nice and the breakfast was pleasant. There wasn't an actual breakfast buffet like I thought we were getting, but we could order anything off the menu in it's place, which did list […] a 'virtual buffet' and it was all cooked to order. It was a nice surprise, but don't wait last minute to get breakfast if your going to be in rush. Overall, really enjoyed it and took advantage of the free bowling game. "Captains Qtrs"
We stayed for three days around Christmas this year and had a wonderful time. We had an awesome view if the beach and our room was really nice. The best feature was the indoor bowling alley which was super nice and fun for the kids. The hotel also had a wonderful breakfast buffet every morning. We will definitely stay there again

ENJOYED STAYING THERE, STAFF ARE WONDERFUL AND THE BREAKFAST EACH MORNING IS FANTASTIC. WE STAYED THERE THANKSGIVING WEEK AND CAME BACK LAST WEEK AND STAYED ANOTHER 3 DAYS WILL BE BACK EARLY NEXT YEAR.

There was a small glitch with my check-in not with Hotels.com but with the hotel it self. The manager himself not only took care of the issue but was very generous in upgrading my room free of charge for my inconvenience.

My husband and I went for a couple of nights with no kids- anniversary time. We were pleased with the hotel, the only thing I missed was the hot tub. It was down for maintenance the whole stay. Other than that, everything else was top-notch!

This hotel is absolutely out of date and not very clean. Wall paper looks like the original 70's wall paper, original carpet, furniture, bed sheets, etc. We checked out an hour after checking in. Don't waste your time if you are looking for comfort and relaxation.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in october. The room we stayed in was a oceanfront double suite. It was very nice and there was lots of room for the 2 of us . The first night we checked in we went to the fire and hula show and it was spectacular. The resort is well maintained and clean. The have many pools , hot tubs and lazy rivers. The also […] have a swim area for the kids with a big pirate ship. They also have a bowling alley and a bar in level 6 . The service at level 6 is not that great but we did not go to the bar to much so it didnt really matter. Overall the resort meet mine and my boyfriends expections. Great place to stay. Lesa meira

The photos on Hotels.com are not accurate and we were very disappointed upon check in. The room was old, dingy and smelly. I asked to be moved and the room we moved to was only slightly better. They built a parking garage in the front of the hotel so when you walk to the rooms on the outside it is dark, dirty and smelly. We had several "guests" in the […] room of the insect kind and my husband didn't want me to walk to the vending machine at night for safety reasons. Hotel staff were very accomadating. The pools were nice and the hotel is on the beach. It depends on you expectations as to whether or not you would be comfortable at this hotel. I'll never stay there again. Decided it was time to take a coworker up on their suggestion of an oceanfront room on Myrtle Beach during the off season. And I feel like I picked the best spot. Lobby and staff were welcoming. Then I got to the room, WOW!! Clean, spacious, and updated. Then, there came the ocean view. Opened the patio door, pulled up a chair and just sat there for […] 45 minutes. Soaking it all in. Bed was very firm/sitff which i'm not used to, but maybe that's what I needed. I've already recommended friends. I'll be going back before the off season is over and staying here again. Lesa meira

Lots of activities offered by the resort (swimming pools, bowling, etc), clean, friendly, right on the beach. Studio room as everything you need. Quiet location on the strand.

Over all the it was ok. I just like very sanitary rooms and fresh smelling rooms. It wasnt too bad but I would say the outside of the hotel like the pools were better takin care of. The pools were my favorite part. Since we didnt stay in the room a lot it was ok.

Had a Great Time, Very friendly and helpfull Staff. Many Pools to choose from, Spacious rooms, Convienient coverd parking. This was our First time Vacationing in myrtle beach SC, The Hotel seemed to be in a perfect location for us.
We were not satisfied at all the room wasn't the cleanest and its a very old hotel, the pictures on line are very missleading. our bathroom sinkwas clogged and wasn't resolved and they didn't have another room to put us in, so they said. i wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone.

After reading some other reviews I was pretty nervous about booking this resort. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. We have a 2 year old, so having a separate bedroom that we can close the door to during naps and at bedtime is worth more to us then the most updated or fancy room. With that being said, the room could […] have used some updating, but was clean, overall. The best thing about this resort, though, was the water amenities and proximity to the beach. Our 2 year old loved the kiddie pool and the lazy river and my husband loved reaching the beach in a matter of seconds. We did have to drive down to the main boardwalk area, but since we spent the majority of our time in the water that wasn't really a negative for us. The price of Captain's Quarters cannot be beat and we were pleased with our stay. Lesa meira
"Friendly Staff"
Staff was very helpful and friendly during check in and check out. Convenient parking and nice amenities. Very satisfied with the rates before Memorial Day but wouldn't pay the higher in season rates for the room I stayed in. Very reasonable though for the out of season rates.
