Hard to fault - very comfortable - bedroom doors are directly on to an outdoor path mews style and you have to walk across to the main house to eat - I arrived late and was still able to get something to eat, excellent wine, lovely ambience in the restaurant and lounge, comfortable if well used beds, spacious bedrooms, poorly signed when you arrive […] but easy parking. I really can't fault this hotel. I stay away a lot on business and have yet to come accross anywhere as good as this. The welcome is warm, the rooms are lovely and every possible requirement has been taken care of down to a full set of alternative toiletries in the bathroom. I'll be back.

As a woman travelling alone I was made to feel extremely welcome and comfortable. The owners are truly hospitable and have a fine eye for details - all sorts of little extras to make sure your stay is a real pleasure. My dinner was delicious and the surroundings were delightful. I would highly recommend Clow Beck to any one staying in the area - why […] settle for staying in a chain hotel when when you can stay here and get so much more? What a beautiful setting, idyllic. The rooms were lovely and the service excellent from the Armstrongs. This was a business trip but I shall most certainly return for leisure! Food was super and such a wide choice for both breakfast and evening meals. Fab!

At first I thought the hotel was a bit pricey for a guest house however, I do believe that you get what you pay for and in this case it was no different! Heather and Paul were wonderful hosts! I have previously used the Clow Beck when on business trips in the North East and always regarded it as my little secret. Somewhere to get away from it all and have a proper bit of down time in excellent surroundings and with the most amenable of hosts. This time I used it for leisure purposes as I wanted to treat a friend of mine to a night of comfort […] as he is walking John O'Groats to Lands End. Suffice to say we were treated to exceptional hospitality, generous portions of proper home cooked food and a room where all needs have been catered for. He hit the road completely refreshed. Clow Beck House has it right in so many areas that you cannot get in chain hotels, and I cannot recommend this place too highly. Lesa meira

The owners are the perfect hosts. The room was beautiful and very romantic, and the breakfast was absolutely incredible - David, the owner, is an amazing chef! I'm just sorry we didn't get chance to eat there in the evening too. A perfect little hideaway for a romantic break.
