All very clean, the breakfast varied and good and the staff very helpful day and night. The location was the compromise I aimed for, between the location of my meetings and the city centre, with more or less half-an-hour's walk either way.

You could easily walk to the Spanish steps (25 minutes), colleseum (10 minutes) and other sights. The lady in the breakfast room is outstanding. The double rooms are very small but that is to be expected in the center of Rome. If you are lucky and get a 3 bed room for 2 people, then it is very spacious. Francesco will bend over backwards to make your stay a good one and so will the rest of the staff. Breakfast iis very good and plenty of it and the lady that serves is a angel on earth. Restaurants and cafes are very expensive in the neighborhood but either a 8 euro taxi ride or the metro to a neighborhood called Trastivera will get you to where the Romans eat, drink and play. The food is excellent and you can easilly get a meal for two with a bottle of wine for about 21 euros Ristorante Ivo is great, get there early as there is a line to get in but well worhj it. There is a large cheap supermasrket in the square in the basement on the way to Termini. The smaller markets are 3-4 times more expensive for water and other stuff is also much cheaper then at the various mini markets.. All in all we were very pleased with the Hotel Amalfi and will stay there again.

Regardless, the hotel receptionist went out of his way to accommodate us and had a room prepared for us as a priority and even had us upgraded to a superior accommodation to the one we had paid for. Excellent service.

Take the express train from the airport to Roma Termini and the hotel is a mere 3-4 min walk to the top of via Cavour. Most main sites 20 min walk from there.

Although it is very close to the train station, it is not a safe neighborhood. Furthermore, the landlord did not live there as it is like a "hotel" without any attendant all day. "Ideal location, but......."
Hi All. First and foremost, for those who are used to the accomodations of US and Greater Europe, this place may seem like a bit of a dump. The neighborhood is also somewhat sketchy and grundgy. That said, if you are willing to put up with a few inconveniences and a step down in accomodation, I can tell you that this palce is ideally located in the […] heart of the city. Most of the attractions are within walking distance and the train stop is right across the street, which will take you directly over to the Vatican. i did enjoy the b and b. it just wasnt that great for a solo female traveller. the area felt a little scary at night and i was locked out because my key wouldnt work. luckily one of the other hotels in the building had someone there 24/7 so they let me in. i think it would be very well suited for a couple though. breakfast is at a cafe about a 2 minute […] walk away which was a surprise but still ok. the room was very clean though and a short walk to the termini station and sightseeing buses. "Do not stay here if you want to be independent"
The hotel is oddly staffed -- someone is not always present. The issue is that they are very wary of guests bringing visitors. I did not appreciate the intrusion on my privacy. The rooms are cleaned at around 10am, so if you are a late riser, you can forget about having your room cleaned. The internet cut out at some point but then service returned […] and was sufficient (especially since wifi can be difficult to find in Rome). My room was "cleaned" once but I could barely tell since the bed sheets had not been changed. On the positive side, the room was nice, though there is no air conditioning and only a fan. The hotel is clean. I would say that next time I would prefer to stay towards the center of the city center, closer to the Spanish Steps, rather than Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, which, though is close to the train station Termini, is located to the east of other attractions, such as Trastavere and Campo dei Fiori. "Alright once we found it and got in"
The hotel was very difficult for us to find. There's no sign so we had to figure out how Italian addresses work, then find a buzzer next to the appropriate door. No one was there when we arrived. Eventually we found a note for us to call a phone number they provided next to the door. Unfortunately our cell phones didn't work in Italy (different network) […] so we had to go out on an adventure to figure out how to use Italian pay phones. After we finally got a hold of the staff we had to wait 40 minutes for us to let us in. After that nightmare the hotel itself was just alright. Service was good and the staff answered all questions that we had. Note that there is no air conditioning and you're on the 4th floor so it gets a bit warm in the summer months (it was 85 when we stayed and we were definitely uncomfortable). The neighborhood around the hotel wasn't all that great. But on the plus side the hotel was right next to a metro stop, so traveling around Rome was a breeze.
