While the facilities in the hotel & room are pretty basic, the location excels. The museum island is just a stone throw away (with a flea market on Saturday and the best currywurst under the bridge), lovely cafes/restaurants around the corner, and a morning market right behind the hotel at the entrance to subway. The occasional gathering of protestors […] outside the Ministry of Foreign Affair next door demonstrates the efficacy and humanity of the German Polizei. Love the sense of freedom here! Lesa meira

Very good clean pretty standard hotel with a modern / chic twist in the decor in a good location for the East Berlin sights.... ...but made much better by the excellent service from the staff at reception and particularly in the lobby bar area . Rooms very hotel standard but with a fancy headboard for the bed and two rocking chairs...Bathroom fine ... […] if a little small. I had dinner in the restaurant ..and although the menu was limited the food and the service was excellent. Overall very pleasant stay Lesa meira

I chose the Arcotel John F Hotel as I had seen some great reviews online, and in general my experience was very good. The bed and the pillows were to die for (you just didn't want to get up in the morning), and most of the staff were very helpful and pleasant - especially David at the bar! However I felt that one male staff member at the reception, […] who checked us in, had a bit of an arrogant attitude. I don't know if it was just us he didn't seem to like, or was it just the way he is generally (neither way is good in that job position). Also, there was a slight mishap with the housekeeping one day. On our arrival back in the evening, we found a damp cloth on top of the bathroom worktop, which obviously had been used by a cleaner, but they'd just left it lying on top of my make-up case. In addition, the housekeeping had forgotten to leave us toilet rolls despite our written request. Everyone needs them.! The location was relatively ok, only about 10-15 min walk to Alexanderplatz, although I would have hoped to be closer to the lively bar areas. However, it was very well located in relation to Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and Potsdamer Platz. In all, a nice and comfy hotel for anyone looking for a bit of luxury in Berlin. Lesa meira

The hotel let me check in at 10 am to an available room - this required a 20 euro upgrade to a superior room but was well worth it given how tired I was after an overnight flight. The room was beautiful and just like the photos, and the shower room was divine. The surroundings are dull but I was only there one night so not a big deal for me.

The Arcotel John F is ideally situated for walking tours of many of Berlin's key attractions, and it's only a couple of blocks from public transit stops. The hotel is bright and clean, and the front desk staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. We even awoke on Christmas morning to find a little gift outside our door.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and seemed to genuinely want you to have the best experience there. The room was lovely and clean and the hotel was in a good location and near the underground too. The gym was just four machines at the top of the building, but it was nice to have the sauna and steam room to myself!

We came to Berlin for a weekend break of sightseeing and Christmas Market hopping. First impressions of Arcotel John F - Wow! Fabulous, modern new build. Warm, friendly and inviting. The hotel is situated in the center of the city right next to museum island and other historical sights. Close by there is Augustiner at Gerdamenmact where you can get some great food and drink Transportation is restricted to the U2 but changes to other lines are easy 1 stop down the line

The Arcotel John F is in a great location for sightseeing. You can walk to most of the main attractions from there or get on the hop-on, hop-off bus closeby. The front desk staff was very professional and helpful, whatever our questions. We did not eat in the hotel but the lobby bar was quite busy and we had a nightcap (and one of the best White Russians […] ever thanks to the bartender!) propped on barstools watching soccer being played in the snow - so cozy! Brilliant location for exploring Berlin on foot or bike. The hotel itself is super clean and stylish, with lovely bilingual staff. We flew into Schönefeld airport late on the Friday and it was only 30 Euro cab fare to the hotel. There's a great cafe behind the hotel as well, Chipps - highly recommend! Brilliant breakfast.

Modern relaxed hotel in the centrre of old Berlin a shot walk away from the tourist sights and plenty of traditional restaurants. Would suit couples on a city break andf business travellers. very good value for money.

I stayed at a night here in order to be near to a visiting friend. It is relatively expensive but a bargain compared to the nearby one and could hardly be better located. Only problem is the building work nearby! I was upgraded to the presidential suite at no expense, very much the lap of luxury. A lovely hotel in a superb location. Clean and quiet. The double beds are in the most part two single mattresses pushed together which is not comfortable, however we were able to moved by a very kind desk manager. There is wifi throughout the hotel (up to around 500Mb a day) which is of reasonable speed but weak in corner rooms.

Great hotel located within walking distance to most tourist attractions, shopping, and metro stations. The hotel offered free wifi service, but you practically had to log-in every time you needed to use it.

Recently spent 4 nights here while exploring Berlin. Great location -- steps away from Museum Island and in walking distance to the Brandenburg Gate. High style and fine furnishings. Three main detractions made this hotel more of a trial than a pleasure. First, the bedding was thick and full of feathers / down. Despite advance notice and multiple requests […] after arrival, received no synthetic alternatives. Second, the hotel was completely mobbed with bus tour people. The lobby was continuously clogged with luggage and tour guides yelling across the room to gather their respective flocks. But by far, hands down, the worst feature was the completely disfunctional internet service. It took 10 minutes to log on and then the server crashed. Since the hotel was chosen in part because of the availbility of internet, this was a serious hardship. Lesa meira

Was able to walk everwhere. Rooms were very comfortable with cool functional airconditioning. Very secure since you have to use room key to ride the elevator besides the room.

Very, very well done. I was completely satisfied. Service was excellent from beginning to end and the physical hotel is in outstanding condition. It is charming but sleek, and sexy but practical. Great hotel in an excellent location, very close to Brandenburg gate, museum island, tv tower and checkpoint charlie. I would stay here again and certainly recommend friends to stay here. My partner and I arrived late in the evening close to midnight and the concierge Kurt was very polite, helpful and his English was perfect. All the service staff were prompt and polite with all of our requests and questions about things in Mitte and Berlin. Would definitely recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, customer service and comfort. However […] it is situated in a part of town that isn't too busy or with a wide selection of shops or restaurants. This wasn't a problem for us as we took a taxi around Mitte, but there is also a subway station only 5 minutes away. Lesa meira

Good sized, comfortable rooms with all the features you'd need. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the centre and with an underground station very nearby. Positive: Very helpful and pleasant staff. About 15 min walk to Unter-Den Linden, 20 min walk to Brandenburg gate, Museum complex . 30 min to Bundestag/ Holocaust memorial, very centrally located. The nearest Subway stop is 10-12 min walk. Negative: The A/C did not work, room had to be changed. First two days the cleaning crew did not leave any shampoo/ […] lotion in the bathroom. Very helpful staff let us leave our bags at either end of our stay. Bar was nice and all the rooms were great. Right near unten den linden and the central tourist areas. Not so close to the edgy night spots if you want that but we were with our parents so a perfect location.

Clean, adequate room. The mini kitchen is nice, but there are no items that support the use of the kitchen. It is a short walk (5 min) to trains and sights. There is very little of interest directly around the hotel. The area does appear to be safe, but few eateries or bars.

The hotel is located close to museum island (one block) and close to two Christmas markets (one right across the street). The 147 bus goes from the Haupbahnhof to the front of the hotel (and gives you a tour of Berlin in the process). The other reviews were very helpful, the Chips restaurant was great for breakfast, but a little too vegetarian for lunch. […] But it's cheaper and fresher than the hotel breakfast buffet. The elevators are incredibly fast, which makes coming and going a lot more fun. Bring your own shampoo, the hotel lets the liquid soap serve for both bath gel and shampoo. Don't miss the panometer at the Pergamon museum, it is incredible when you see it first before the archaeology finds in the museum. Lesa meira

I could not have been more pleased with our stay. Most of the main sights,the Reichstag,Brandenburg Gate,Berliner Dom, TV Tower were easily reachable via a 15 minute walk. The room was very large & modern & housekeeping did a good job keeping it clean. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions and any other assistance we needed. We were very pleased with this hotel esp. with the location. Closed to museums, shopping and great neighborhood. Convenient to public transportation. The hotel employees were very courteous and helpful. I definitely would stay there again if we are in Berlin.
