Our stay at the hotel was good. The staff were friendly and attended to everything we asked for. My only comment is that the hotel needs some updateing on the outside. Also the hottub pool could be located maybe where there is an ocean view as the property is in a beautiful spot. Other than that the stay was great!!!

Room and facilities were very clean and free DVD sign-outs were a nice surprise. Courteous staff throughout our stay. Would stay there again.

The room was quaint, we stayed in the older building which had the old tube TV. It was simple, but very clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast at the restaurant was expensive, but well worth it. It's actually in Royston, but still close enough to Mt. Washington for our needs. For the price it was worth the stay. Having booked on line, the room we were given was not at all what I had expected (water view rather than beach front). They were very accommodating and were able to upgrade our room to beach front, at a very reasonable price. In the end, the room was lovely with amazing views of the water and sea life, and included a gas fireplace and jet tub (very […] romantic for our anniversary). This spa and Hotel was sweet and felt like your where home.. That is if home had a heated pool and hot tub and dry and wet sauna!!! Restaurant food fantastic and staff everywhere and so friendly... Not to mention the Hyro package we got was wonderful ... We will be back for sure!!!

We enjoyed our one night stay. The king size bed with down duvet was very cozy, the fire place helped heat the room. Our time after check-in was spent in the hot tub, dry sauna, steam room and swimming pool. A great way to spend an evening after an afternoon spent snow shoeing. Nice hotel, although a bit dated. The spa and pool/hot tub were very welcoming after a full day at Mount Washington Ski report. The disappointing side of our stay was the room and the doorway that joined us an other room. You could hear everything, including full conversations (I don't think the other guests were talking loud) and even belching and […] other bodily noises. Not very nice to say the least and if it was not so busy we would have requested another room. Other than the place is nice and the staff are friendly. My only advice is to make sure you specifically request not to get one of the few rooms that have adjoining doors to other rooms. We will definitely be visit this hotel again. Lesa meira

A beautiful location with great ocean views. The pool, exercise and hydrotherapy facilites were really nice and relaxing. Unfortunately, the rooms although clean are quite tired and really need to be redecorated. The restaurant is outstanding. The service staff are welcoming and accomodating. The food is outstanding. Beautiful location, eventhough we were there in the winter.. but the heated outdoor pool and hot tub and steam cave were a nice treat! Comfortable beds and clean rooms, can't get much better than that. I would definately come back another time with girlfriends to take advantage of the spa! It looked amazing!

Simple and relaxing, quiet and cozy are the words to describe this oceanfront resort, which is conveniently located nearby Courtenay and Mt Washington Alpine resort. We decided to stay at the Kingfisher for a quick weekend getaway and to go snowboarding at Mount Washington. The location was great and we had a short drive to the Mountain and Courtenay. The service was very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and well appointed. Overall a good choice for the price we paid.

The room did not live up to our expectations. We'd had such good reviews from friends that our expectations were quite high. It was quite dated in decor with old style TV, small bathroom etc. We could hear the footsteps of the people in the room above quite clearly and the oceanview was not as good as we expected since we were on the ground floor of […] the building that was accessed from the parking lot. This hotel is a real treat. It was completely quiet, the staff went out of their way to satisfy my request for a change in shuttle time. The pool was the perfect temperature on a cool day. There's nothing wrong with this hotel; it's just showing its age. While we loved the quality of the beds and bedding - and always found the room and hotel area to be clean - our shower didn't work, neither did the phone or the shower. That was a big frustrating. I was very happy with my 3-day stay at the Kingfisher. The room was large and clean, with bonus of fridge and Starbucks coffee! The toiletry kit from DeservingThyme was very nice touch. The restaurant had great food and a great patio with gardens and ocean views, also fairly priced. Location is perfect, right on the water with private beach and central […] to visit Mount Washington, Courtenay/Comox and Denman/Hornby Island. The use of heated pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room at no charge for guests is a bonus. The spa offers tons of services, the Hydropath is well worth the experience and access to the yoga studio on a drop-in basis was also a plus. I had read reviews which made me worried regarding smoking problems on the balconies and around the resort, I was very happy to find out that they now have a new non-smoking policy that they make you aware of (and sign!) at check-in. To be picky, the only problem I found is the lack of privacy on the balcony for the Ocean View rooms, where some divisions between rooms would be a quick fix to give a bit more privacy to guests, but that is certainly not a deal breaker, and I will go back for sure! I stayed in an oceanview room with two queen beds. The Good: The Kingfisher's setting was beautiful, and the service of front desk and restaurant staff was outstanding. There was a small fridge, coffee maker, and kettle in the room. The hydropath at the spa was very fun. Bad: The room was cramped and not well laid out. One bed was up against the wall, […] and the other was obstructed on one side by the "closet" and the bathroom door. There was no luggage rack. The closet was part of an open shelving system only a few feet wide, and was only tall enough to hang shirts. There was no place to hang long garments like dresses or long coats. There was no in-room safe. There was no air conditioning, and no screens on the doors, so we had to fight off mosquitos. The hotel did provide us with a small table top fan which helped. The bathroom light was on the "wrong" side from the door, and inconvenient to turn on. Although the bathroom was an adequate size, it was poorly laid out and there was no counter space. Bottom Line: I would stay here again for the setting, restaurant, and spa, but not for the room. Lesa meira

Everything was great except for one thing. It was extremely hot when we were there and you do not have air conditioning so it was hard to sleep at night even with the fan on

This was a very clean hotel. Serene environment on the water. Get a room facing the sea. I would go back there. We had two younger kids. It has a Murphy bed, separate bedroom, fireplace and a patio overlooking a grassy are and the sea.

Beautiful facility, wonderful staff, but all ruined by smokers on the decks as you could not leave a window or patio door open but that smoke poured in from outside! The restaurant had a wonderful breakfast.

Restaurant was a disappointment. The selection is limited, good thing we like seafood! I chose this hotel again because of the ocean view and the dining. Would have gone somewhere else to eat but it was too inconvenient to drive back into town. The service was disappointing in the restaurant as well.

Nice staff, room decor was more like a motel like than resort and spa, The room was quite pokey, My kids were not impressed nice touch though was the counter top facilities and microwave for those with small children or on a budget. Note the pool has restricted hours for children which isnt stated on Expedia. The upper floor which has a nice view has […] a flight of stairs, so not for disabled. Stayed in a waterfront suite and had a wonderful view of the ocean and the beach. We all used the hot-tub and pool after a full day of skiing at the nearby mountain and loved the facilities. The only thing that could be improved is the moss on the roof visible from the restaurant.

Despite the cool temperatures of approaching winter the grounds and view is spectacular. We were unaware of how popular the place was for different spa treatments and so were only able to take in the hydropath one which was great, and the use of the heated pool and hot tub, and for next time, which there definitely will be, we'll book in advance and […] take in some more pampering. We noticed lots of singles and couples going to treatments and leaving glowing and relaxed. We could've upgraded to a beautiful suite right by the water for a very reasonable price but found our room to be very suitable for our time there. The restaurant was beautiful with the same view the food and service was excellent. The area is beautiful and quiet, and just a short jaunt to a unique and friendly town. This hotel is really showing its age. Matteress were old and very uncomfortable. Pool would only allow my teenager children in the pool 1 hour at 9am or 2 hrs at 6-8pm. Very unfriendly for a family. We arrived at the Kingfisher after spending three days backpacking in Strathcona Provincial Park. Quiet a contrast to our tent living! The reception desk staff were very helpful and courteous, even though we were a bit ripe having not showered in days. When I asked if we could upgrade to an ocean front suite, they located a LOVELY QUIET room for us. […] We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the restaurant, followed by a walk on the beach front. We had just returned from Tofino and several days of hiking on the west coast and arrived in our muddy outdoor gear at the front desk. Picking hotels on line does not always give you what you expected. Well the Kingfisher did way more than meet expectations. Our room was very well appointed, the hotel grounds are lovely, and our breakfasts in their dining room were excellent with healthy, tasty options as well as the usual eggy breakfast choices. We also had 1 dinner there and that was excellent as well. I remember thinking that if I lived anywhere near, I would love to hang out at Kingfisher with some girlfriends for a few days...
