"Maintenance"
this was a problem in our room as well as a few others. I was in the 400 rooms and our shower pressure was little to downright nonexistent. If owners are reading in, make sure pressures are working. It was my fault for not bringing it up, since we hardly used the room, but it was a minor inconvenience. Other than that, spacious rooms, fair price, parking […] available. "Huge room"
We didn't really know what to expect at first but were very pleased. The room is huge, very clean and comfortable. It is a nice place to stay for more than one night.

Liked the hotel.. room was nice n clean..even though I saw mold under A.c.. love that everything was in walking distance.. had fun on swimming pool, but there was alot of people smoking.. even tough the say there was no smoking but overall we had a good stay

"Right on Padre Blvd."
The rooms did not have enough lights and the shower head did not work. The pool was nice and you have a nice view of the bay. The staff was friendly and they repaired the shower right away.
"island weekend"
The hotel had an odd configuration, but aside from that it had great big rooms, pocket friendly prices and friendly/helpful staff. All you can ask for when looking for any accommodations.

I don't usually write reviews although I read them before booking a hotel. I should have listened to the reviews on this particular hotel. It was so disappointing and very dirty. I used to live on South Padre and have stayed at many of the hotels located in the area and this hotel is one of the worst. The hotel is converted from a shopping mall (which […] I used to work at) and it was not done very well. It doesn't flow and it has a musky dirty smell. My room had a horrible green carpet that wasn't even properly installed it looked like they had just thrown it on the floor. It had disgusting brown stains that were sticky. The bathroom floor was dirty and had hair. The shower had grime, even though the hotel doesn't seem to be very old. The bed and sheets smelled. I actually had housekeeping come in and clean my room again but it didn't make much of a difference. It was just so uncomfortable and I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone. "Good Quality"
The pool is a little different, it has jet streams that shoot from different areas. It is a little small though. Has a bar/restaurant on 4th floor that seemed pretty full, good thing my room was far enough away that I didn't hear a thing. If I wasn't with my daughter and family I might have checked it out Very spacious room. Only one elevator working […] that was a bit of a pain, but not much. Main complaint is that it is a little ways from beach when walking. Lesa meira

"Suites at Sunchase"
The hotel was very conveniently located. It only had one working elevator, which also had some issues of it's own. The room was comfortable, but did need to to be cleaned. The carpet had multiple stains and needed to be steamed cleaned. Additionally the lighting was very dim in some of the common areas.

"Sunchase Suites at South Padre Island"
The staff was nice and responsive. The hotel was clean but older, not very aesthetically pleasing. The parking was confusing at best, took us a minute to figure out how to get into the hotel. The beds were very comfortable however, we all slept well. This hotel is nothing fancy but we enjoyed our stay. There are a lot nicer hotels on the island but […] also a lot more expensive. Hotels are hard to rate sometimes, 2's are to me pull up motels that are clean. 3's are clean hotels that are not fancy. 4's are a little more upscale and a lot more amenities. 5's are way too fancy where you have to dress up to leave the room...not my style. This hotel is rated a 3 but in my book it's barely a 3, I would not however rate it a 2 or a 4 so I guess 3 is all thats left. I chose not to recommend this hotel just because of the overall feel of it. We did not have a bad stay. Lesa meira
"better then padre island hotels"
location:great walking distance to the right is denny's to the left is McDonald's ... about four blocks walking distance to the beach surroundings: in front is small go cart track next to that is jaws a beach store and next to McDonald's is two more stores the bad: lacking staff members did not get room service till the day b4 we left shower is disgusting […] we were in the 4th floor n it was a maze and the mirrors n the wall did not help. front desk is not very helpful unless u look for them i had to call them through my phone n still did not get my towels or the room cleaned it was just us i saw others downstairs asking for more towels. the good: on the 4th floor is a great lounge for a bar seen...this place is great if ur not asking for much rooms are very spacious not crowded at all had a room w two queens n sofa bed even w the bed out had lots of walking space i dont look for much from a hotel just cleanliness the rest i can take care myself so to me this place was a great stay i didnt here any noice from lounge and it didnt cause ne trouble to me beds are very comfortable room had a mini fridge coffee machine small sink n macrowave and a nice area to eat n cabinets for ur food i had a nice stay Lesa meira

Kind of expensive for the quality but nice place. The front desk lady seemed to hate her job and was not very pleasant. But overall comfy hotel.

"Sunchase at South Padre Island"
I was very unhappy, I am disabled and our room was so far from the elevators that I could not come and go but once, I was confined to my room since they would not change my room to accommodate my needs. The house keeper left cleaning supply's in the restroom, and the shower floor was full of sand, the ceiling fan did not work, neither did the refrigerator, […] not to mention that the beds look like someone had laid on them, as if the house keepers just flipped up the covers but didn't change them. What upset me the most is that when I told the front desk of these problems, nothing was done about them, but what hurt me was the time lost with my daughter that I had not seen in a year, since I could not walk the long distance from the room to the elevator, so she had to come and go with the family having quality time with them seeing the sites, eating out, and doing all the activities of the Island. I had that one day with her and now she is gone back home, and that is time that I wont get again for another year, all because they could not give me a room by the elevator, and If you have ever stayed there, you know exactly how far the rooms are if your staying in the #400"s rooms. The hotel was clean for the most part, but the window was extremely dirty. The a/c didnt work good, and i think that there were 3 employees in the hotel,

The room was spacious and nice but the air-conditioning system did not cool the room properly. The plumbing was not working , toilets did not flush and the bathroom sink would clog. The room had insufficient window coverage to keep the suns heat out. The lamps in the room were missing switches so we had improper bedside lighting in the evening/night […] if we wanted to read a book. Because the hotel is right off the main Blvd. You had to walk a distance to find a beach access. The closest one has no bathroom or rinse station. You have to drive in your car to find one with these amenities. Lesa meira
"Suites at Sunchase-More than expected!"
We had 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable! Two huge closets helped with close clutter by keeping the suitcases contained. The bathroom was nicely renovated. The kitchenette was spacious and the seating was ample. We had a bay view which was beautiful. The pool was nice and jacuzzi had lots of bubbles. The […] staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Restaurants and shops were within walking distance of the hotel. The public beach access was only a couple of minutes away. The price was excellent. I would reccommend this hotel to others. Don't listen to the other reviews. This hotel has been renovated and is great! Lesa meira
"Different, spacious.."
It seems like this building was converted from something else to a hotel and not specifically built to be a hotel. So some of the hallways and whatnot are kind of funny, but the room itself was nice. The location is further south on the island from more of the popular venues (bars/dining etc), but there are quite a few in walking distance. We walked […] to Palm Street Pier and had a PERFECT view of the South Padre fireworks. There is a public access to the beach only a couple blocks away from the hotel. This area of the beach also seemed to be less crowded than some of the areas further north on the island. Lesa meira
"Hotel Sunchase @ S. Padre island"
The hotel was quite nice. However it was difficult to locate exactly where the entrance was located. Poorly marked. You had to know where to turn in to access the parking lot. They had to tell me where and how to go. After that all was good. They were working on the parking lot lights, so each night the car was not lit, but nothing was bothered. All […] else was first class. Will probably stay again. It is walking distance from the beach, but not directly on the beach. Their pool was nice, but you need to get there early when it opens or later in the evening. Many natives (I think) swim there. The bar was closed both Sunday and Monday which was a slight issue, but we solved that my mixing our own. The staff really went out of their way to be nice. There is a Denny's right next door, but not the best Denny's we have ever visited. But the coffee was good and the meals filled you up at a reasonable price. "South Padre Vation"
This was an ok hotel, if you are not looking for any frills, this will work. This place does not have free wifi in the rooms. The coffee provided was really bad. The refrigerator that was supposed to be in the room is only a cooler, and not a fridge. so if you are expecting to keep something cold , you will be disappointed. There is no view of the sea […] or the gulf. no room service, the carpet smelled of some cleaning solution , and like it had been locked for many days. The staff were friendly, the cleaning crew were good. The lid on the toilet seat did not stay up. we reported it to the hotel, the maintenance guy ( who did not speak a word of English) managed to let me know that he does not have spares to fix it . The water pressure in the shower was very poor. and it did not have a tub, just a walk in shower. over all , I had a lot of things that I was disappointed about, but i managed to continue to enjoy my vacation. would suggest looking for a better hotel if you have the money for it . "Honeymooners from NE"
Awesome bed!! Great service, attractive hotel, very comfortable bed for a great price! Would have liked the shower to have more pressure, but was fine. We stayed longer than anticipated and the hotel crew were very accomadating and nice. Our room had a great view of the bay, though the outside of the windows were pretty dirty. This hotel needs maintenance the rugs were full of stains, the sofa bed had stains also, the front desk lady was helpful, she move us to 3 different rooms, but all were the same not clean.

The hotel was undergoing a lot of construction. The hot tub did not work. The room was very spacious and clean. Housekeeping came too early and did not come back to change bed linens.
rooms were real nice beds the best I've slept on in a long time pool alittle to small and baech could be easier to get to
"Bad Service"
Hotel Look overall, however there is not maitenance of the room. They will not respond to your request to clean the room. I spend two days in town and will not come back to this particular Hotel due to the poor management. the microwave broke and they would not fixed it. BAD...BAD
Rooms are very nicely sized and clean. The conversion from mall to hotel looks kind of forced at places and in some details, but it's OK. Service is OK too. Other than that, it has 2 deal-breakers for us: 1) There is no breakfast on the premises, despite ads for the on-site cafe (closed) and the promise of a Continental one. McDonald's is right next […] door fortunately. 2) We're familiar with the area so we expected to have access to the beach through the Comfort Suites next door but it was locked, after years. How much would it cost to strike an agreement with them (another Choice Hotel) so your guests don't have to drive or walk 5-6 blocks? It's actually further away from the beach than other places on the bayside. The Comfort was $70 per night more, including full breakfast and beach access a short walk away. Between what I spent at McD and the car's cleanup of sand and beach debris, it would've been a wash, without having to look for public parking. 3) Not a deal-breaker, but it did bother us: As others mention, and at the risk of giving tips to bad guys, the parking lot is dark and lonely without access control. Didn't see cameras throughout, only at the access. Fix the beach access, put out some bagels and toast and coffee while keeping the prices and it could be our new preferred spot at SPI. Lesa meira
this hotel was ok.... it was like a ghostown. I didn't see another person in the hotel besides the front desk clerk. He said there weren't towels available for the pool which I thought was odd. The room however was confortable and clean.

I booked the room for a minihoneymoon stay. The room, front desk staff, hotel cleaning service, surrounding areas, fourth floor bar, and convenience were all pleasantly fantastic! "Sunchase Hotel & Suites"
At first it is hard to see the hotel from the road because it is in a big building with shops. But the people were nice and polite. The room was very big, 2 closets, spacious bathroom, comfortable big bed and extra area room for stuff. Will stay again.

Was worried about staying in what used to be a mall. However, it was a beautiful hotel very spacious and had and awesome view of the bay. Bed was comfy and used expensive Hilton type of sheets and comforter. A/C was cold and bed didn't sqeek too much if you catch my drift. Would recommend to anyone looking for comfort at a great rate. Enjoy!
"Excellent"
Hotel was better than expected and our stay was very peaceful and quiet. We also enjoyed a few hours at Club Pelican West on the 4th floor and had a fantastic time listening to the band and watching everyone dance. Room was extremely clean and shower was awesome. This certainly is a hotel I would stay at again.

las habitaciones son muy amplias, con cocineta, ideales para viajar en familia, la única desventaja es que si vas con amigos , se encuentra un poco lejos de la zona de los antros y bares.

me gusto el hotel. las habitacioness amplias y comodas. las camas muy comfortables. me hubiera guistado que obsequiaran el desayuno como en otros hoteles. lo que no me gusto mucho es que en la lavanderia no estaba muy limpio y el internet en la computadora no funciono y nadie lo checo.
