"Midas really IS close to the Rainforest and more!"
We loved our stay in the clean, lovely cabanas. All the amenities (pool, bar, labeled plantlife, great breakfast) but still rustic. Enjoyed the area sightseeing and the town for the restaurants and shops. Great find!
"Hotel Midas not a gold star"
We reserved the bungalow, and the clerk knew this when she read our reservation information that we presented. She didn't even offer it because they gave it to someone else. What we got was a super stuffy, very hot room near the pool. The music at the pool went non-stop all night till 2 am. But when we asked what time the music would tone down this […] same clerk said 10:30. The continental breakfast was just a big farce, several people crammed into a place all of them with no breakfast and the coffee - you had to pay for. Midas needs to touch this place with his finger and work some magic. The only guest that received exemplary service was the dog that apparently had been wounded and was getting sutured up by a couple of people in the back courtyard. Very gross to see, but nonetheless interesting and lucky for the dog. Lesa meira
"Nice for the area"
If the hotel was in the USA it would be rated a 3* at the most but for San Ignacio area it is one of the better places to stay within walking distance to town & room prices were reasonable. PROS: Rooms were spacious and clean, rooms cleaned everyday & they gave you fresh dry towels, breakfast cooked on site & was good & cheap, you could book tours there […] with PACZ tours, security guard on site at night, jungle surroundings, they sprayed for mosquitos. CONS-Rooms were not insulated well and you could hear people in adjoining rooms, restaurant only served breakfast. When we were they it rained every day so the grounds were very wet & muddy. The humidity was so high our dry clothes even felt damp in our bags & because all the trees it didnt get much sunlight except over the pool area, so it seemed a bit dreary. Lesa meira
"Nice gem in San Ignacio"
Pleasantly surprised by this hotel, there is a new pool and bar and the breakfasts are wonderful. Stayed in a Cabana and was really clean and beds nice and firm (not those cheap Central American ones). Only complaint was the show as the spray of water was all over the place. Good location, 10 minutes walking to the market/restaurants. Highly recommend. […] Dorita was excellent and took care of us. Lesa meira
"You get what you pay for."
When I initially looked at the hotel, I thought it was too expensive. When I finally booked it, it was $20 cheaper per night, and I thought I was getting a deal. If I had paid full price, I would have been upset. There were lizard droppings all over the bed, and dead flies in the towels. The staff seemed unconcerned about the situation when I asked […] for new sheets and towels. They did eventually bring the sheets and towels later that night. The mosquitos were out of control, and there were no mosquito coils or netting, or any protection, really. There was hot water if you let the shower run for a while, and the location is pretty cool- especially if you have a car to get into the city. I didn't see the inside of the other lodgings in the area, but from the outside, Midas did seem cleaner and more secure. Lesa meira
"Hervorragend"
Das Hotel liegt etwas abseits des Zentrums. Fussweg ca. 5 Minuten. Die Cabanas (günstigere Zimmer) sind schon etwas älter aber sehr gepflegt. Die neuen Zimmer im neuen Haupthaus (mit Pool und gelegentlicher Party-Bar) entsprechen europäischer Qualität. Riesenbett, gepflegtes Badezimmer, Klima-Anlage, 2 Ventilatoren (die Klima-Anlage hat viel zu tun […] in San Ignacio...). Die Mitarbeiter im Hause sind sehr, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Für Tipps und Hinweise zu Touren in der Umgebung wende man sich an den Hotel-Chef Mike. Seine Infos waren sehr hilfreich und er ist ein sehr netter und unterhaltsamer Gesprächspartner. Lesa meira
