The immediate impression of the hotel is that it's very seedy looking (although many of the miami beach hotels give this impression). There is a bar immediately when you walk in. It might be fine if you're there for college spring break, but I was there for a conference. Although clean and with some new fixtures around the room and bathroom, the room […] is overall very small with an old, with a "cheap" feel to it. I ended up switching to a different hotel because 1) the room was too small, 2) the beds were too low -- they're barely more than a mattress on the floor, 3) the mattresses were uncomfortable, 4) the bathroom was too small with a small standing shower (no bathtub), 5) the room was very dark and the lighting very harsh, 6) if you opened the shades to let in more light, you looked out on a parking lot where it was very easy to see right in, 7) the safe was semi-broken (only 5 out of 9 numbers worked), 8) the shower was broken (couldn't switch to the main shower head, was stuck on the handheld head. To the hotel's credit, they were very nice and the manager very accommodating when I wanted to switch. Lesa meira

The hotel is well located for visiting many attractions at South Miami. The hotel does not have any elevator. Rooms are not good. I will not advise anyone to choose this hotel.

This is a nice spot in South Beach for the right people. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. However, the room is bare bones -- basically a bed and a TV. The bathrooms are newly-renovated and the shower is delightful. We moved after one night, because we really wanted something more luxurious (there wasn't even a chair in the room, except […] for a hard desk chair on wheels.) The room was very quiet & cozy for being on Collins Ave. For the price, I was satisfied with my stay. There were a few issues with the room such as the phone not working and the AC took a big leak in the room after we turned it up, but other than that, it is a great stay for a young couple. Small but very comfy. The staff was very efficient and FAST when I arrived. My room was awesome it was very clean n cozy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the beach area. The hotel was also a block away from the beach and restaurants as well :)

The rooms are nasty. The bedding was dirty and walls of the rooms were unclean. At one point they were switching our bed sheets because of hair, burn holes, and stains. We watched the guy put on 4 different sheets and take them back off before he found one set that was actually useable. He was even shaking his head in disbelief!

Once I walk in we smell a lot molding. Misty order. The day we check out and there is little bit of water coming out in shower and bathroom sink No pressure water. I can't take shower that morning.

The hotel is a nice small Art Deco Hotel one block from the beach. The Hotel is known for its green initiative. I do recommend getting a room on the second floor, because there is a first floor bar and it can be loud. This didn't really bother me or my mother, and we slept well. I didn't like that there was a $12.50/day resort fee that I wasn't aware of upon arrival. Also, the acoustics weren't that great. I could hear everything in the rooms next to me and in the hallway. While I like the idea of a carbon neutral footprint hotel, it wasn't the best experience. The bed is quite uncomfortable, shower pressure was quite nice. The lighting is horrible, very dim no matter the area in the room. Beach towels are provided which is a big plus. BIG downfalls are (1) walls are paper thin. The staff was extremely welcoming and accomodating. They always greeted us with a genuine smile and hello. I would def stay here again and am in fact looking to book another trip in the near future. The location is perfect. 1 block from south beach.

In general the hotel is good considering the price of the room wich for southbeach is low. The hotel is a bit noisy, specially if you are in the first floor close to the lobby. I had to catch a flight at 7.00 am, so the night before asked reception to turn off the music from the bar at 1.30 AM and they said the music would be turned off at 4.00 AM. […] A bit contradictory if what you expect in a hotel is to rest. While the room was nice, and the location convenient, I would never recommend this hotel. There were a lot of extra fees that no one told us about until we were checking out. Also, whereost hotels will take your credit card info as a precaution, they put a hold on our card without telling us. Which won't be released until almost 2 weeks after we've […] already checked out. Also, when I asked why we weren't told in advance, they were very rude. Not a high-end hotel perhaps but definitely decent if you mostly want to be outside and don't plan on spending too much time in your hotel room. Location was great. We were not bothered by noise during our stay. The shower was fantastic. The pool at the sister hotel one block away was just what we needed with our young children, we were the only ones […] in it !!! (perhaps because a block away you are on the beach!). The staff was very nice and helpful. There is a municipal parking garage on the block (1$/hour) that is cheaper than street parking. The hotel provides beach and pool towels. A block away we found a great sandwich place, called "la sandwicherie". Two drawbacks: lighting is poor in the room and we couldn't open windows because the wall from another building was REALLY close, so it makes the room a little grim. Also, the AC was either blasting freezing air, or the room temperature got hot and humid, we never really found something in between. Overall, it was a great experience and we would go again. I paid for three nights upfront. When I got here they asked for my credit card and charged a big deposit without saying that was what they were going to do. When I said I was not happy they said well it will take ten days to get it back. No apology. Next issue was you pay this type of money and they don't even offer coffee. No breakfast. Then I get […] a blanket out of the cabinet and some used person lubricant falls out of it. So I have no idea if anything has been cleaned! The next morning I am trying to get ready for a convention and my hairdryer is not working. I go to the front desk and tell them, ask for another and the attendant said I don't have one. I also show him the lubricant and he throws it away and doesn't even apologize nor act like there was anything wrong with finding it left in a blanket! I told him I need a hairdryer to get ready and he said "I don't have one, and there is nothing I can do about it". Again no apology. I had to get angry and tell him he needed to contact a sister hotel and get one ASAP. He finally did. When I said I can't believe I have not even received an apology, he said you will have to contact the manager. There is no pool, no coffee, no continental breakfast. Nothing that would give this hotel a reason to ask so much for a night besides being one block from the beach. I will never stay here again and I highly recommend someone look elsewhere to stay. The very thin walls were the problem here. The reviews mentioned this, but I chose to ignore them.light conversations and Tv from next door were as if you were in their room. When they moved out, maid didnt turn off their alarm clock so it rang all night.Mini bar was unstocked, and filthy, when I went to store some milk. Clifton is good for young people trying to stay in a good area at a reasonable price. 13th and Collins is an amazing location next to all the bars/clubs/strip clubs/hot beach scene. If you are old farts looking for a relaxing luxurious vacation, the Clifton is not for you. The hotel is recently renovated. The rooms are the size of large closets. My view was onto an alley. The desk was 18" wide, the "chair" a stool--no back. The Wi-Fi did not work in the room-- a dead spot in the hotel. I was there on a business trip--a disaster to work in the room. If you are going to the beach all day, perhaps it is fine.

Just got back from a weekend at Clifton. We went with another family. All three rooms were amazing. Very nicely appointed, clean, modern and each had a huge wall mounted TV in each. Bathrooms were very modern, clean and nice. They have this eco-friendly thing going on there...actually kinda nice...ie soaps and stuff that are environmentally friendly. […] Internet was available throughout property...wired and wireless. Its sort of free...ie its included in this surcharge on all rooms. ( Think 12.50 daily) Staff was very friendly. The alarm clock radios in the room have an ipod dock. Each room had a small fridge you can use. Hotel is much better than we expected. Very good value for money. Everyone was pleasantly surprised. Property is centrally located (ie very close to all the South Beach action) and is a block from the beach. There is no pool right on the property. They share with a sister property a couple blocks away. We didnt see the pool since we went to the beach everyday. It was a great experience and recommend it to all. The hotel is in a good location and has decent service if you don't want to stay at the pricier and more posh hotels. Staff was very friendly, the guy at the front quickly checked us in after short paperwork and explained that the extra resort fee is unfortunately mandatory..Bellhop took all the luggage upstairs and introduced us to the room. Which […] is pretty compact, but as you know, if you go for a weekend you won't spend much time in your room. The room was clean and the beds felt comfortable enough, but after the second night I did encountered an unusual backache. I see some efforts to show that this is a eco-hotel, but maybe it was more so in the construction or converting it to green than it's operation. But I guess having the rooms really small helps. The showerhead is a great feature, although it's likely you'll use a lot of water after a long night. AC works well, the walls were thin, but not so bad as to be annoying and everyone in my room got sound sleep. Lobby is small and basically features a small bar that you can pre-party at and many people were there right before a huge limo took the group to the clubs. I definitely recommend for 2 or 3 nights if you get a decent deal, recommend for friends and couples, not much for families or seniors unless it's off-season. Lesa meira

Cute hotel, great location. No pool on site but 5 minute walk to the ocean. We were able to get a good night sleep too. My main complaint is the valet!! Took at least 1 hour to get the car! Hotel has a great location at the heart of the Miami Beach Art Deco district and night life, but it can be very noisy at night and parking is virtually impossible except for expensive valet parking. es un lugar ideal, donde el valor por noche, por la ubicacion es justo. Algunos detalles por el proceso de remodelacion pero en general muy practico para tener un lugar donde llegar a dormir despues de un dia de playa o una noche de fiesta. Vi lå der i en natt med 4 unger. Ikke å anbefale. Hele hotellet stinket parfyme. Vi fikk ikke sove før rundt 2 på natta grunnet nabodamene som kranglet. Ble vekt av at de begynte og krangle igjen kl 6. Veldig lugubert hotell. Tvilsomt klientell. Ville ikke sovet der uten unger heller.
