The Swan Ironbridge - Inn – Telford

The barman andy magreger was very welcoming and helpful to us. Apart from the bad phone signal ( ironbridge is in a valley) everything was good for a stay.

The hotel is nothing short of a disgrace. The pub itself is filthy, there was no check in protocol, we were simply shown to the room by a barman who said there would be a disco on until 11.30 and was less than complimentary about the facilities. When I remarked that he wasnt selling it as a positive, his response: ' i dont care, its not my place anyway.' […] The music was loud and relentless, we endured it until just after 11.30 when it stopped. We had a good 15 minute respite until after all the partygoers had left. Then the bar staff chose to put the jukebox on and so it started all over again. Breakfast was utterly staggering. Breakfast began at 8.30 so in a bid to get out of the property as quick as we could, we were down at 8.40 and there wasnt a soul to be seen. There were a few packets of cereal, a jug of orange juice & a jug of milk on a lone table. No tables were set up, there was no coffee,tea,cutlery,nothing. perfect spot in the heart of ironbridge, traditnonal pub with character looking a little tired but very clean and great staff, and a bargain price, we eat there and this was also good value and well presented even on a very quiet time of season. Disco night fri/sat avoid if you want an quiet early night, brill if you want a great weekend.

Hotel is up for sale, so was pretty empty and staff had that I can help, but I'm putting myself out to do so. Breakfast was interesting but ok. It was a lovely family room, but beds a bit hard and only small velux windows so no view. So many hotels in the area, I would recommend trying another one, until new owners take some pride in it.

The Swan Inn is a place of living history. The Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic and the room we stayed in room 7 was out of this world.

It was close enough to all the sights we wished to see. Food was good, staff were very polite and friendly. Would not recommend it to families with small children due to the noise level from the disco (up to 2am).

The hotel in general was noisy and smelly. The room was small, dirty, smelling and noisy (patrons and cars passing). Couldn't eat the breakfast the next day due to the smell of the dining area and our feet sticking to the carpet when we walked. Even though it is conveniently located in Iron Bridge, we would absolutely never stay there again, nor recommend […] it to anyone. The hotel has a great location in the centre of Ironbridge.The staff are friendly but the hotel management could be greatly improved.It did not appear to have a strong local trade unlike other hotels in the area so that may say something.Inadequacies-the Wi-Fi was down and not fixed during my stay,the bedroom door could not be locked from the inside,the […] shower hose leaked more water than came out of the shower head and the mattress was very thin.Breakfast while adequate was 'presented' in a very slapdash fashion -the worst in 6 weeks of using hotels and b&bs in the UK. very good one night stay for a friends wedding. dont expect ultra modern this is an 18th century building with real beams and low ceilings. the room with the glass floor spooked my kids a bit so avoid room 5 if you have little ones.only had breakfast which was good but food in bar looked excellent. comfortable night but very warm by our room and couldnt […] turn radiator down. ironbridge is magic Lesa meira

Believe me this is a lovely place to stay, friendly staff, good location, very informal (if you prefer that sort of thing!), for me it ticked all the box's. Only thing I would say is that if your on business & start your day at 8am, breakfast dosen't start until that time, when i stayed there before there were a number of us who needed an early start, […] so they kindly moved it forward an hour.... i'm impressed with this Inn & have no problem recommending to stay there if you can - I will..! In the 30 years of staying in hotels, this must be the worst. It should market itself as an 18-30 resort. Music going on at 100dcb to midnight and then drunken young people outside the pub until 2.30am in the morning, shouting, breaking bottles and using foul language. At one point the police was there but did not clear them away (not a surprise I suppose). […] Rather than coming back relaxed we are more tired than when we went. I also recommend eating at the Malt House a little further down the road – excellent food and better type of people, wished we had stayed there. The room was acceptable condition wise apart from a shower over the bath with no shower curtain! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PUB UNLESS UNDER 30 AND DO NOT WANT TO SLEEP AT NIGHT Lesa meira

Last night we went down to the bar to ask the member of staff behind the bar (the same one who had checked us in, otherwise we may have doubted his information credibility) if the hotel had wifi, having booked it with hotels.com and the information clearly stating that it did. He gave us a very straightforward "no" which we found frustrating as we needed […] the Internet to plan our day today. We had to, as a result wander round Ironbridge trying to find a decent data signal to find the information we needed. This morning at breakfast we asked two members of staff who confirmed yes there was wifi, that it was temperamental but there was wifi. We feel let down having relied on the fact that we needed Internet to plan our day and were blatantly lied to by a staff member. I am disappointed to have paid hard earned money to stay in a hotel with badly stained carpets, cobwebs hanging from window sills, TERRIBLY furred kettle (disgusting) and for one of the bedside lamps in an otherwise very very dingy dark room to be have a blown bulb. Also, the skylight needs some kind of blind as we were rudely awoken by daylight streaming in at 5am. Overall, we are dissatisfied with our stay at what is "supposed" to be a 4 rated hotel.  Worse still that there was no one around at the time of our checkout who could have taken our complaints as we had to leave our key with the cleaner. Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Staff very welcoming and food and service fantastic. Please note however that the disco on a Friday and Saturday is very, very loud. This is stated on the website to be fair so you are warned however if you have young children staying with you it is not ideal. this was a quirky sort of place - comfortable room, but some noise from both the road and others. Lovely location, walking distance from all the Ironbridge attractions . Staff were friendly - we didn't need them for anything specific as all the expected facilities were provided.

Evening waitress very pleasant and efficient but she was overworked as she was the only one on duty as barmaid and waitress. The quality of the evening meal was good value for money. Problems sorted promptly eg television in bedroom replaced. Service at breakfast left a lot to be desired.

WOW....experience this room, the 'Furnace' room (No:5) has a very unique never seen before in any hotel room I've stayed in feature: glass floor from end of bed to end of room! yes thats right - GLASS FLOOR...WOW! I loved it.!! dont worry it safe lol, but if you do have a thing about heights maybe not the room for you..through glass floor you look down […] (only about 3 to 4 feet) onto top of old furnace used for drying barley back in the mid 1700's, to make beer! its brilliant..you can switch off the spots underneath if you want. Food both evening and breakfast was excellent, did miss a shower though, you can accomodate that if shower/tape mixer in bath....staff were excellent, even brought breakfast times forward accomodating us Business users who start work at 8am....i'd stay there again tmw & will do when staying in Telford area again.... enjoy, I did!! You should warn other customers that this pub is licensed untill 2.00 o,clock in the morning and is the local mecca for late night drinking .So peacfull it is not .And if you do not like really loud disco .Do not stay here .

The hotel was well situated for all the museums and seeing the Iron Bridge. The staff were very friendly but had too much to do. There was only one person serving at any time. They had to serve behind the bar, place and serve food orders, collect glasses and see to customers booking in. The room was lovely but the heating in the hotel was on full blast […] and was way too hot for the time of year. The food was lovely. Would recommend this hotel. Lesa meira

I was at a wedidng reception at a nearby hotel and this was 5 minute walk from there. Upon arrival it was a nice pub with people enjoying drinks and evening meals. The bouncer in entrance was initially odd but when i returned from the wedding the place was very busy with loud music and drunken revellers, thus explaining the need for a bouncer. The Swan is a "quaint" old building in a good location, but on our visit there was evidence of a lack of management. There was only one key to our room, so if we wanted it cleaning we had to leave the key in the door.
