"Excellent stay"
We were really impressed with Nonantum. We were looking for a last-minute weekend getaway, someplace we could relax, enjoy a nice view, hit a local restaurant or two. Our view from the Portside Building was awesome -- a very peaceful view of the river as it enters the bay. The gas stove was a great addition to our fall getaway. "Not many conveniences"
Would not return. Beautiful surrounds, but once inside the lobby, dining room and especially the junior suites...very run down with less than minimum conveniences. Sitting on small balcony gave us a wonderful view of nature. Unfortunately we were sitting on a balcony where the wood was rotting and everywhere we looked the paint was peeling, gutters […] falling down. The balcony chairs were obviously new which seemed completely inconsistent with the condition of our room and the building. No place in the room to sit to enjoy a book or watch the news on the TV. Not even a headboard...had to lean against the wall. Had to put toiletries on the commode seat while getting ready for the day, as there was no place to set anything in the bathroom. Was absolutely shocked considering the charge for the room. We have no problem with paying good money, if the accommodations are of equal value to that charge. The hotel was an old place with a lot of character and was clean and comfortable, but didn't seem quite on par with its price. I stayed in the older part of the hotel. There is an amazing level of floor noise from the room above you which I found disturbing. I think the term 'resort' is a bit of a stretch--it is a hotel on the water, with a pool, a […] bar, a dining room, and some available rentals (kayaks, bikes) but if you're lookign for a full service resort this isn't the place for you. The hotel was fine and, while expensive, the Nonantum did include breakfast. However, there are not many affordable food offerings in the area for someone on a budget. I loved staying here! The room was beautiful and the bathtub was actually clean enough to take a bath in. Everyone who worked there was so sweet and caring. This was 5 star for sure. Rooms great the staff kind and always willing to help. Grounds picture perfect. They have a wonderful restaurant unfortunately this was the only down side. It was a great stay in a wonderful location. We stayed in the main hotel building and it had seen better days. First thing was a smell of old cooked food through all the corridors. "Tired and Outdated"
The hotel was below standards. The door to our room had large gaps between the door and the jambs. Very few electrical outlets. This is an old hotel that should be charming, especially for the price we paid. Instead it is just old. "Great location"
After a week of rain and it was still raining, it would have been nice to offer upgrades as there were likely plenty of empty rooms available. Othewise, the place is great, may want to think about new flat screen tv's and in- room coffee. Staff was lovely.Ósvikin umsögn gests á Hotels.com

We had heard very positive comments about the restaurant at the Nonantum before traveling there. Thus, we decided to have dinner there. It was disappointing. We found out from our waiter that night that it ws the head chef''s night off. "Loved our stay in Kennebunkport"
We wanted to stay at a classic New England resort hotel and found just the right place at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine. The hotel was located right on the river within a short walk of the beach in one direction and the "downtown" area in the other direction. The hotel provided a restful atmosphere with activities such as kayaking, nature […] walks, croquet, etc for those who were interested. Would love to visit the Nonantum again next summer.
