Ég og konan erum hlauparar og ferðumst varla án þess að hlaup komi þar við sögu. Nú var komið að því að hlaupa í Bristol, en hvernig átti að komast þangað og hvar átti að búa. Við vorum svo heppin að uppgötva vefsíðuna Hotels.com og þar fundum við hótel nálæt þeim stað sem upphaf og endir hlaupsins virtist vera og á verðlagi sem okkur fannst eðlilegt. Við pöntuðum síðan hótelið í gegnum Hotels.com og stóðst allt í sambandi við það, í raun þekkum við ekki til Hotels.com en spurðumst lítillega fyrir um það hjá hótelum hérna heima og virtust þeir ekki þekkja það nema af góðu. Við flugum til Heathrow, tókum lest frá Heathrow til Paddington stöðvarinnar í London, og þaðan tókum við lest til Bristol. Ferðin frá flugvellinum til Bristols tók um fjórar klukkustundir, en meðan við vorum í Bristol uppgötvuðum við að það er bæði fljótara, þægilegra og ódýrara að taka rútubíl (bus) beint á milli Bristol og Heathrow flugvallarins. En nú vorum við komin til járnbrautarstöðvarinnar í Bristol, þaðan var um 15 mínútna gangur á hótelið. Hótelið kom okkur skemmtilega á óvart, stafsfólkið þægilegt, og staðsetningin svo að segja fullkomin hvað okkur hlauparana varðaði því startið í hlaupinu og endamarkið voru svo að segja umhverfis hótelið í 100 metra fjarlægð. Hlaupara leggja mikið uppúr staðsetningu frá starti og endamarki svo það gat ekki verið betra. Hlauparar leggja líka mikið uppúr að sturtuaðstaða sé góð á herbergjunum, en það var mjög góð sturtuaðstaða á Ibis Bristol Centre. Morgunmatur var ekki innifalin, þótti okkur það kostur, en það var hægt að fá góðan morgunmat á hótelinu ef maður vildi á sanngjörnu verði að því okkur fannst, líka var hægt að fá hádegis og kvöldmat þarna, svo var líka hægt að sitja þarna niðri á kvöldin með bjór eða kaffi ef maður vildi. Í nágreninu og miðbænum sem er í um 10 til 30 mínútna göngufjarlægð er líka mikið úrval af kaffistöðum og veitingastöðum. Á herberginu var aðstaða til að hita sér vatn og fá sér té eða kaffi og líkaði okkur það. Það má því

Friendly and helpful staff to look after us during our stay over the New Year. The hotel has great charm but the decor in the reception rooms looks fussy and outdated. Simple colours and bold ideas would bring the hotel significantly forward. A short walk to the city a bus also available.

"Wentworth hotel"
It was advertised as having a bath in the room which it didn't. I asked for two calls in the morning, one never happened and the second arrived 50 minutes late. Luckily I didn't have important meetings.
"The Wentworth in Bath - Convenient location!"
This hotel provided us with a convenient location to explore Bath. The on-site parking was also extremely useful. The fact that the hotel was just ever so slightly outside the city made life easier as we did not have to navigate our way through the small fiddly chaotic roads of central Bath! The walk into the city took about ten minutes, the hotel provided […] a short-cut route guide. This hotel provided everything we needed and the staff were friendly and helpful. Do not expect sheer luxury from the rooms when booking, at the end of the day this hotel is a two star hotel! The rooms although basic were comfortable and fairly clean. I would definately stay at this hotel if I ever visit the stunning city of Bath again! Lesa meira
"Wentworth House - Perfect for a weekend away"
A lovely hotel up on the hill overlooking Bath. A very pleasant walk into town and easily accessible. The staff are only too happy to help and very approachable for anything you need. Great room, clean, well presented and proportioned and private.

the hotel is just a 15 min walk up hill out of town, but has parking for 15 plus cars if they park right. the staff were very very friendly and our room was bigger than we had believed it would be having stayed in meany other 2 star hotels. it was very very clean, and quite at night. the swimming pool and the top tub were a bonus, it only the pool for […] heated i would gone straight in, as it was in cooled my foot down. the breakfast was very very good, just wish it had been servered with a teapot instead of warm water pot on the side. why this hotel is not a three star i/we don't know but we would be more than happy to stay there again. hotel. com made the booking very easy. "Wentworth House Hotel"
Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast room and food was good, but our double room was a bit cramped and very warm ( the window would only open to around 2 inches). I was a bit concerned about the multiway extensions which were lying around, particularly the one hanging by the bathroom door for the television that was on the wall. The television […] itself was good, as was the shower, but there was no bath mat in or out of the shower, which could have been a bit slippery. The bed was a bit squeaky but comfortable; I felt there could have been a bit more hanging space for clothes (there was only room for 3 hangers in the wardrobe). As I have said, however, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Lesa meira
"Dissapointing"
The room was very small in actual fact we could not walk round the room without one person sat on the bed . The on suite shower room was a closet, in order to got to the toilet you were required to open the door in order to pull your trousers up as well as banging your knees on the sink when standing up off the toilet. The shower was very small in actual […] fact I have seen bigger coffins, and you needed to be 7ft tall to shower properly, as the shower head was too high. The room was cleaner on the second day,first day the room was very dusty,carpet not hoovered and toilet and shower "cupboard" smelt musky. The full english breakfast on the first day was ok, I ordered poached eggs and was served 2 dogs rubber balls on a plate. 2nd day my partner ordered the full english and got a piece of black pudding less than half a cm in thickness and like cardboard. When I requested a bottle of water on the first night for the room I was charged £1.30 for it. surely water in the room is a basic requirement. My partner spent some weeks saving up for a weekend away for me as a birthday treat and we spent most of the weekend upset and very dissapointed with the standard of this hotel, even though we had read the reviews and thought people were been very harsh.I would reccomend that anyone reading this review to look at other websites for reviews as this website has no reviews posted. There are better places in Bath to stay far cheaper and of a better standard of cleanliness with bigger rooms. We have stayed in quite a few hotels and B&B's within the bath area and by far this is the worst we have stayed in. I feel that the owners should seriously look at their buisness and update their decor and provide basic amenities to at least a minimum standard and not substandard for the amount of nightly fee's charged. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNTIL THE OWNERS IMPROVE THE STANDARDS. Lesa meira
