Hotel is so disappointing. Needs renovation urgently. Be careful with the Encanto properties, they will mislead you to their time share and keep you harrassed until you sign with them. Stay away from all the Encanto hotels if you want to enjoy your vacation.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's very close to the main shopping area and the beach. The ADO station is close by too, which is great for getting to other cities of Cancun airport. The building itself is very attractive, and I like the way it has the pool area in the middle. It was on the ground floor, so there was no natural light. A room on a higher floor would be better, but probably more expensive. A great location, a block from the beach,cute small hotel, but the mattress was very hard, stayed 4 nights, but woke up sore from the hard mattress. The hotel is in a good location and our room was clean. The bathroom window was broken so we couldn't air condition that room. There was only 1 small light for the entire bedroom so it was very dark. Staff were nice and helpful but would not change our room. We have stayed in Playa many times and this hotel was by far the dirtiest and most unpleasant stay we have had. The safe didnt work and the staff simply didn't care. We dint have any towels in the room and a bright hotel light blazed all night, we has to hang a bed sheet over the internal window to sleep. Good hotel great location next to the bus station and the beach and rigth at the beginning of the long street with restaurants and shops. What a quaint little Hacienda! It was just as the pictures showed. The beds were firm and comfortable and we slept like a dream. The staff was friendly and we were given more pillows and towels without hesitation. They once had a cafe/bar, it's not coming back. The breakfast plan consisted of a voucher to take to their sister hotel about 8 blocks down. […] It was a buffet, not bad food, but we are not breakfast eaters. It was not worth the walk for us. There are plenty of places to get a quick bite anytime of day. Our room (206) overlooked the courtyard and the balcony was great to step out on and relax after a day at the beach. Even though the location is less than a block from 5th Ave. it was nice and quiet. The beach, just a 1 1/2 blocks down the street, was magnificent. There are shops galore and the "come on in, I have what you want" is persistent, but friendly, just say no is the mantra you need to live by while here. If you like low key, small and inexpensive, this is the place for you, We would come back in a heartbeat! I also want to comment on the transportation we utilized through Expedia and Best Day...it was worth it and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I left my little laptop on the van and was sure it was gone. We were grabbing a bite to eat and saw a Best Day employee (Adrian) walking up the Ave and even though he was "off duty" he stopped and called the office and helped us track down the computer, kudos out to him and the company. Given what we paid for seven nights here, our expectations were not high, but we booked it because it appeared to offer good value accommodation and was close to 5th Avenue, the bus station and the beach. Hacienda del Caribe fulfilled all our requirements and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Reception staff were very helpful, and although some […] of the towels in the room had seen their best days some time ago, the room was very comfortable, with a bijou but adequate shower room/toilet. A small restaurant was under construction at the front of the hotel, due to open 15th December 2011, and assume that this will alleviate the need to find somewhere to have breakfast. However, we found the Pelicano Inn on the beach does a very nice breakfast, and you can then use their beach beds all day without further charge...!!! We would certainly stay here again. Lesa meira

I love to travel and this is the first time I m staying in a hotel half block from the main street for just a few dollars. The location is excellent, half block from 5th avenue, one block from the bus station and 1 and a half from the beach! The staff is very friendly and helpful. This hotel is right by fifth avenue which has tons of silver to buy, currency exchanges, and restaurants. It is the tourist section of downtown. Only stayed 3-4 nights here but wished I would have found this nice little hotel sooner. After spending two weeks in Playa Del Carmen, I happened upon this cute little gem right off of 5th Ave and only 1 1/2 blocks from the beach. If you want a cute, inexpensive, convenient, well presented & completely mexican hotel experience, this is it... The rooms are huge, the balcony gorgeous (as is the view of the caribbean), the bed was comfy, the chandelier under the domed skylight was AMAZING & totally unexpected.. Gorgeous little hotel in the best location you could ask for in Playa. […] 2 minutes walk from the main bus terminal on 5th Ave, 2 minutes walk to the beach, right in the middle of all the action & was not expensive at all. We stayed here last minute, and were extremely happy with our choice. Right next to the bus stop, right on the calle 5 and next to the beach. Comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. We stayed at Hacienda del Caribe in late June/early July 2011. The hotel was great. All the staff members were friendly and kind. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a very attractive front entrance and lobby. Every day we saw tourists taking pictures of the hotel because of its charming appearance. The ADO bus station is only a block away as well, which is an inexpensive way to travel from CUN airport. The organic bath products in the rooms smell amazing, and the beds are a bit hard which is normal in Mexico. The rooms have televisions with a bunch of channels (including VH1 clasico--awesome!). AC units worked well. The hotel is easily walkable to the club district, but far enough away to be quiet. They close the gate at night for security, but there is 24 hour staff the let guests in and out as needed. We will definitely stay again. Lesa meira

I give this hotel a rating of 3 1/2 stars. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but for what I paid to be right around the corner from Quinta Avenida and the beach it's more-than adequate. The pool is kinda' funny. I swore I saw a diving board, but it could've been for a small kid/child. But, yes 2 people get in and it would be crowded. Heheh. So, it's not […] a pool in the traditional hotel sense. I read that the upper floors were better, so I immediately requested that. It's great if you know or attempt Spanish because naturally you'll get what you want a little quicker. The hotel is directly around the corner from 5th Avenue. I paid a fair rate, so I felt like for the accommodations the price was fair. The towels are stained, the bathroom is (well.. honestly) like your bathroom at home with a couple bad spots. I read about the hot water, so I put it on 5-10 minutes before I got in; it was hot. I was satisfied. The best thing for me is that The ADO bus station is around the corner by 1 minute, and safely inside the station there is a Santander ATM... and since my bank (USA) doesn't charge me to use this ATM it's a great safe location relative to the Hacienda hotel. The fan gets loud, but if you use that and the television you can adequately "cover up" any noises you plan on making or hearing (heheh). So speaking of the sheets there was a stain on the covers, but we're all adults we know what that's about, possibly. Or maybe not... but I had two twin beds, so I just used the other one and doubled up on my pillows from the extra bed. I didn't eat breakfast, so I can't comment about that, but there's a great restaurant about 2-3 blocks away... there was live music (música viva) and the guys carry the drinks to your table by balancing it on their head... so again the hotel is in a great location. If you are used to staying in 4- or 5-star hotels, I would not recommend this hotel as your first option. This hotel is great for it's location and boutique-style residence room Lesa meira

A budget hotel as good as this was beyond my expectation. Hacienda del caribe is well located in a quite street that is very close to all that you need at Playa del Carmen. A few steps away from the the bustling 5th avenue, 5 minutes to the beach and 2 minutes to the bus station by walk. I will be back there soon enough.

The hotel is well situated and only a few steps away from Avenida 5. We booked the room and specifically requested a king size bed by calling the hotel. Upon arrival, I was told that the only available room had two queen beds. This was irritating as I had called and confirmed that we would be able to get a king size bed and that our late arrival would […] not be a problem. There is no parking for the hotel so if you have a car it makes things more complicated as parking is difficult to find in Playa. We had to run the shower for about 15 minutes with the hot water knob turned all the way in order to get the hot water running. Wifi was not working when we were there. Hotel was beautiful. Small pool. air conditioning wasnt working but im ok with the fan. it wasnt hot in the room. Kinda stuff & moist if no fan. Lighting was too dim to work. No refrig. WARNING: can not ue the phone to call out. People have to call in. Th reception couldnt even hlp m call the van airport shuttle because the lin was in cancun & the cant […] call lon dstant. I had to run out to he streets many times to get in touch with people since i did not bring my celphone. Breakfast was a rip off consider the quality & quantity. We arrived very late, as we got screwed over by Aero Mexico, but that's another story. The hotel reception was still open when we arrived at 2:00am and helped us to our room which overlooked the courtyard. No breakfast as advertised, pool not usable, room was comfy, check in was easy but later they put someone on the desk that spoke no english so not helpful to find anything in the area. Area a little shady, vendors very pushy and rude. The pictures make it seem better than it actually is.

This hotel is right in the action, everything is within walking distance, including the ADO bus station for the bus that you can take from Cancun airport to arrive in Playa, 5th avenue with all the shops and restaurants, and the beach is literally one block away. We had a room on the third floor of the hotel with two queen beds and it had a little balcony looking into the courtyard where they have a small pool. Internet access was available from the room. The room itself is very basic, with no chest of drawers available. But it did have a place to hang clothes and a desk for your laptop. The main advantage of this hotel is the location. Everything is within walking distance. We didn't take the breakfast option - there are so many restaurant options available on 5th and 10th, that it's nicer to have the choice.
