"Fine, but could find yourself a better deal"
The little apartment we were in was fine, the staff very friendly and helpful, but for the price the room could have been better. Great shower, kitchen was a toaster and a microwave - i had expected more than this but it did us fine. Good location, but really anywhere around the old city or close to Plaza Catalunya is likely to be a good location. All […] up it was fine for our first few nights in Spain, but on being here longer have discovered there is so much better value for money. For the amount they charge per night the room given was small, the kitchen appliances were poor and the door into the room narrowly misses the bed. We were luckily on the first floor, the stair case is a death trap, if you have a big case or want to drink at night, I wouldnt recommend staying here. No doubt it is a beautiful city. The narrow staircase made it unpleasant to go to the room as often. The room is way to expensive for the condition. The apartments-in-Barcelona are a great way to spend a few days in this magical city. The location is superb. You cannot go wrong: away from the noise of Las Rambles, yet very near the best spots of Barcelona. We saw 3 different apartments. One was at the very top, the loft. We got given quite a big apartment which was lovely and clean. The room was very modern and the building old but pretty. The staff, Raj and Chanda, were friendly and helpful. The apartment was in a great location so we were close enough to everything going on but just off a side street so found some great pubs off the beaten track, the previous reviews […] we read said it was noisy at the apartments but even with the festival on we didn't hear any outside noise. staff were lovely and friendly and WOW the apartment is in a good location: less than a minutes walk to a metro station and five minutes walk to la ramblas. plus it has a balcony where you can eat all your meals and look down at the street and watch the daily drama of human lives unfold. for example: we saw one painter/decorator driving up this tiny […] tiny street and trying to park on it and it was obviously a struggle and this old guy was watching him and looking disapproving. and then two guys carrying a fridge had to get past him so the painter/decorator had to repark his car in the tiny tiny street and then he (the painter/decorator) had to climb out of the car in a really awkward, hilarious to watch way. also the shower was PHENOM. We stayed in Juame 1. The apartment was clean, fresh sheets and towels supplied every day. The service was excellent even though we arrived at 11pm. The amenities in the apartment were good - refrigerator, air con, hair-dryer etc. The apartment was ideally located in the gothic quarter within walking distance to the beach and port area and the La Rambla […] area. Loved this place... amazing location in the Gothic Quarter, you can walk everywhere. The stairs are small and steep, so getting your luggage to the room sucks, but the room is very clean, has AC, and the bathroom is rather large for Spain. The price is right for a room here...it is in a good location close to the Metro and within walking distance of most of Barcelona's historical sites, markets and the sea. The room itself is comfortable and functional but not luxurious. We were able to prepare basic meals in the kitchenette, saving a few dollars. The locatio of the apartment is great. But they have terrible customer service. Two of my chargers exlploded while I was trying to charge my Iphone, and they refused to refund one of my charger. My wife and I (both in our late 40's) stayed here for 4 nights. While it is true that the aparment does not have a lift, the staff did carry our bags up to the apartment. "Great location, lots of noise"
The best part about this hotel was its convenient location, half a block from the Jaume I metro station in the Gothic quarter. Another plus was the relatively large room with kitchenette, roomy enough for two adults and a teenager. This was unit #8 on the 4th floor. Other rooms might be different sizes. Some people have complained about a difficult […] staircase and lack of an elevator. My room, at least, was served by an elevator, so I didn't use the stairs. Not sure whether all rooms can be accessed by elevator. The biggest drawback was noise. Each evening around midnight, garbage and street cleaning trucks came through. It sounded like they were in the room with me! Also, loud people in the streets and bars near the hotel could be heard well past midnight, even on weeknights. "Can't wait to go back"
Barcelona is a charming city, but very densely populated. Apartment is tiny, but charming and has everything that you need - small refrigerator, hair dryer and micro wave. Our room even had a tiny balcony that we used for breakfast and drinks. Location is convenient to metro, small grocery, even an organic grocer, beautiful pastry shops. Lovely cobblestone […] streets and very safe neighborhood with lots of great restaurants and tapas bars. The only drawback to this lovely aprtment is the noise level from the street. You will hear noise all night long and forget holiday or sporting events, plan to run the air-conditioning or the kitchen fan to drown out the sound. The beds are platform, very hard and creak when you move. The staff is warm and friendly, they will help you plan out trips and suggest places to eat. Be aware that the office is only staffed 10 AM to 3AM and the office is around the corner from the apartment address, so checking in can be a bit confusing. Cathedral is nearby, you can walk to the beach, and Las Ramblas. Don't miss La Boqueria, a fabulous market for fish, fruits and vegetables as well as great places to eat. Would stay here again. I found a bit over-priced but location was golden. It is right in downtown location with tons of great cafes and shps around. Only complaint is the deadly spiral staircase. Not only it's a safety hazard, also it's quite impossible to bring heavy bags to your room and there's no elevator what so ever! If you want to live like a local when you travel […] aboard like me, this could be excellent stay. This is literally an apartment in tight city neighborhood. Walking distance to everywhere, including sea side, rambra & traditional market. Reception is almosr non-existence since this is more like an apartment rental, not a hotel. Best points first. The staff was lovely. They did everything they could to accommodate me even allowing for an early check in, arranging a taxi and always pleasant. The building is in a busy neighbourhood in the evenings but as soon as I closed the windows, I heard no noise from the street. While I was there over a period of 48 hrs, the elevator worked […] twice, the wifi worked "most" of the time, the AC worked at two speeds-on or off. The bathroom towels had brown stains of them in the corners (?????). The toilet was really weird. I'm 5'6" and had a hard time sitting on it. My feet dangled about 3" above the floor. I had to jump off. For any wise crackers, it was not the sink-lol. The ever pervasive scent of mildew was everywhere in the Gothic district so I wasn't surprised when my room smelled like it.
