So I stayed at this property for my Birthday last year and it was amazing, hence the reason I booked it again for this year's Birthday. However, my experience this time around was anything but amazing. Let's start with check-in...I rounded the corner of the hotel and sat amidst a motionless queue of cars for 45 minutes. When I finally reached the valet, then entered through reception to check-in, I stood in yet another queue for 15 minutes. The receptionist who assisted me seemed to have difficulty processing my booking, though I don't know why, because it was pre-paid. Nevertheless, after another 20 minutes of waiting, he put me in a handicapped room, which is not what I paid for. Of course, I only learned this AFTER entering the room, which took another 20 minutes to reach (due to another queue at the elevators). I didn't have time to sort things out in that moment, because all the incessant waiting made me late to my Birthday party across town. Thankfully though, when I returned to reception later that evening and spoke with a different receptionist, he rectified the matter and things got better. The room, view and amenities were wonderful. But then...it was time to check-out. And that process was similar to the first, just add on another 45 minutes to wait for my car to be retrieved from the valet. I can't say anything negative about the staff on-hand. They were helpful. But a trendy, luxury hotel like this needs WAY more staff. And it's Dubai...money is no object.
