Great value for money
I stayed in the self contained room. It was a good size and had everything I needed including a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster plus a small table outside. The room was relatively spacious, comfortable and clean. The shower room was also good. I would recommend Oak Mead.

Lovely property. Really met our needs of overnight stay close to Chester. Clean, parking, very comfortable, great value. Would definitely recommend.

Very secluded in the middle of farmland. Quit, enjoyable and served its purpose for me. Very fast WiFi in the room that I stayed in on the ground floor.

Nice enough but mixed feelings
We had mixed feelings about our stay in the downstairs double room... Positives... The room was very cosy and clean, with good facilities including a kettle, microwave, fridge and toaster. It looks exactly like it does in the photos. Check-in was easy as there's a key box outside the room. Negatives... The room is directly connected to the main house via a locked door that is quite thin. It was mostly quiet but don't expect complete peace and quiet all the time (especially because of the dogs mentioned below). We weren't aware until we arrived that the owners have two large dogs in the main house. My partner is afraid of dogs so it was scary for her the few times they barked and were running around the house. They also came into the yard as we were leaving in the morning and barked at us a few times, with the owners nowhere to be seen to tell them. The drainage for the wet room is poor so we had to put a towel down afterwards to soak up some water.. not ideal if you'd be staying more than one night.. maybe a squeegee would help so the floor could be mopped a little. Overall it's a nice little place but don't think we'd go back.

Lovely stay at Oak Mead!
We only spent one night at Oak Mead on our way back to London from Snowdon however I wish we had stayed longer! The apartment was a great size with individual rooms and a wonderful lounge/ dining area. The kitchen had absolutely everything you would need in it and at the on-site parking we were greeted by a beautiful horse and some chickens. Would definitely go back again.

Peaceful country stay
Entry is by a key so you do not see anybody at all for check in. the room was area and clean, and the place is surrounded by fields. Its very quiet, with just the comings and goings of people and horses from time to time. There is a small fridge in the room so you can bring around breakfast and have it on the patio outside you can bring around breakfast and have it on the patio outside. The wet room is fine but not ideal because water goes all over the floor and a bath mat is not sufficient to stop it being a risk for those who might be unsteady and slip. You will need to drive to a nearby village to find something to eat as there is nothing within walking distance.May not suit everyone but we would stay here again.

Beautiful Oak Mead
This is a wonderfully peaceful, light and airy place though only ten minutes from the dual carriageway. The furniture and furnishings were comfortable and tasteful. Everything appeared to be clean. The key lockbox system meant we didn't have to make small-talk with hosts after a long drive. I would give it a perfect score except for the bedstead - I prefer a solid headboard. We would definitely stay there again.

unique and lovely
unique and lovely, a really nice room, comfortable, clean, huge television, only a few minor issues, lots of dead flies due to location and season, one bulb out on bedside lamp, main porch light not working, missing bulb / lamp shade on central pendant, main lights too bright, if not for the people downstairs it would have been blissfully silent
