Everything was above and beyond perfect. The cottage is impeccable, cozy, and enveloped in history. Even our family pets were charmed. Definitely will return for a little slice of serenity.

This is a really wonderful property. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and historically interesting -- as well as very comfortable. Contactless check-in was very easy, and the hosts had left lovely welcome treats. We especially appreciated the hosts' attention to covid safety -- not only the contactless check-in, but the assurance that at least 48 hours had passed since the previous guests had been in the house. For travelers like us who are still being extremely careful about pandemic safety, this house is the perfect lodging option. Many thanks to the hosts!

This was such a smooth and snazzy experience/house. It is quaint and tucked just far enough away you have privacy from the main roads but still only 5 to 10 minutes to the grocery store and then 15 to 20 to anything else. With the close proximity of the water, yorktown, williamsburg, and, jamestown this is a hard spot to pass up. Also very close to the Chesapeake bay of course! The hosts were very communicative and responsive. Everything was as appeared and the whole property is to die for. I told everyone it was like a fairytale house. 10 out of 10. Also dog friendly!!

The owners are wonderful hosts and 1740 is a wonderful place to vacation. It was so nice to be surprised with a beautiful basket of fine wine, chocolates, and seasonal candle. I would highly recommend 1740.

This is such a unique property set on a lovely area just minutes from Yorktown and all this beautiful part of Virginia has to offer. Incredible character to this wonderfully restored historic home. And it was sooo clean. I spilled a little bit of coffee near the bed and was shocked that when I wiped up the spill with a damp paper towel, there was NO dirt other than the coffee I wipe up. These are old, wood floors, nicely refinished but with many natural crevices where dirt can settle. There was none! We were welcomed with a generous gift basket of wine, hot chocolate, cookies, candies, candle, and treats for our dog! There were tons of towels and wash cloths, and a great selection of coffee pods and creamers. It was fully equipped! Beds were very comfortable! We also loved walking the grounds with our dog. Plenty of cute sitting area to have coffee or a glass of wine. The owner was extremely responsive to all of our questions but otherwise left us on our own. Missed telling them in person how delighted we were with this property was! It is a perfect space for a couple or small family.

The owner is great emailed all the info promptly, the cottage is so cute,it was a wonderful place to stay, the yard is gorgeous and the home was clean and cozy ! I cannot wait to visit again
