A few days before our family trip here, we were informed our 8 person Villa was cancelled.
Luckily I was in Tenerife at the time, so I spent the my first day trying to sort out alternative accommodation. After being told it was Expedia’s fault, I visited the office to find out the truth which was truly shocking, our villa was cancelled as the owners of the villa turned up last minute and wanted to use it! Apparently they can do this, so please watch out.
The alternative was not suitable as we had 2 families, therefore 8 people in a 6 people accommodation. The beach villa we paid for was now a much smaller villa on the resort with not enough beds.
I spent the second day trying to get confirmation that the 3 bed was still available as we would have had nowhere to stay and we would have had to cancel flights.
I then find out my bank card was blocked as they took out too much from my bank account.
I was then refused checking in as I hadn’t paid!
I was then told the room was ready and it wasn’t.
I then had no lighting for most of the first day.
The negotiation went on most of our trip, their idea of a fair settlement was just paying full price for the 6 people accommodation.
They sorted out other accommodation for the final days, but the damage was done and the stress was unnecessary on a holiday.
The negotiation went on and they offered very little, they threatened that i had to pay the amount stated. They then turned the electricity off until the bill was paid.
