After seeing positive reviews about the August Lodge here on the site, I happily booked a room for our wedding anniversary trip. It did NOT disappoint. To start the staff was very friendly and greeted us warmly. They informed us of the continental breakfast and the common areas that we had access to.
August Lodge is a quaint place to say. And when they say lodge, they mean it. Outside the look is very woodsy and what you think of when you hear lodge, and once inside the lobby feels very cozy and decorated with a lodge/woodsy vibe.
Our room was very nice and very comfortable. It was very clean and had plenty of space for the two of us. The small kitchenette was stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, flatware, silverware, drinking glasses, dish soap and a sponge. The coffee maker was a great touch as well. Each room has it's own balcony that overlooks the surrounding woods (ours faced the driveway, but the hallway balcony overlooked the property which was fine.)
Our only issue is the walls are pretty thin. We could hear people running through the hall, muffled conversations from neighboring rooms, and we even could hear a gentleman next door coughing rather loudly.
Overall, August Lodge gives the feel of an Air B&B rather than your average hotel. It is definitely on our list of places to stay the next time we're in Cooperstown.
