Cozystay Signature: Lake Okanagan Resort

This resort is old, dated and not being maintained.

It’s a great place to stay, but the cleanliness of the room should be done more in detail. A lot of cobwebs and bugs stuck on the wall. Also the resort is quite far from the main city so make sure you take Some food with you. There is no restaurants or grocery stores near there, which was not so good when you have kids with you. The resort is located on a steep hill overlooking the lake, though it’s beautiful but the walk down is not so good. Overall the stay was pleasant but the location is not the ideal choice.

This place exceeded our expectations. The pictures looked deceptively like the original pictures after they built the place but it turned out the place did look exactly like the pictures. It was a really nice place.

The room was quite nice and had great view. BUT, service was terrible, nobody answered the phone despite calling at many different times, no face clothes were supplied, we had to clean the room ourselves to avoid a $50 charge, had to take the trash out to a super stinky building, the front desk was a hovel with a clerk who was absent when we arrived, the toilet was too short (close to the floor), and it felt generally poorly run.

We visited the Lake Okanagan Resort in October 2020. My initial contact with the hotel was not positive. I received an automated incomplete text message requesting that we call ahead to confirm our estimated check-in time. The person who answered the phone seemed confused as to the reason for my call and gave short impatient answers to my questions. We arrived late in the evening and were provided with a poorly printed (illegible) map and some rough directions to our building. When we entered our unit it was like a sauna so my husband quickly opened the balcony door and windows to let some cool air in. Within minutes the unit was filled with more than 20 wasps and we later discovered a wasps nest embedded in the siding of the building over our balcony that seemed to contain hundreds of them. This rendered the balcony off limits and meant we spent the duration of our stay gradually ridding the unit of wasps. Regarding cleanliness and general upkeep, I was disappointed to see clumps of hair and dirt drifting across the floors when the sun shone through the window. The furnishings were worn, uncomfortable and stained. The kitchenware was sparse. There was no dishwasher detergent provided and it worried me that we were likely relying on the previous guest’s dish washing skills during a global pandemic. The amenities would likely have been one of the more redeeming features of our stay but most were closed for the season.

Would not recommend this hotel at all. Over priced and rooms are nothing like advertised. Rooms and location were nothing like on website. There is also no view of lake. Hotel in deserate need of an overhaul. Floors in our room were wobbly and we were worried we might go through them. And when walked on them they were so noisey. Has cable tv but feel like watching tv from the 70s as no HD. Check in staff were not pleasant -seemed more of an inconveince to them when checking in. I took the time to check out so I could return keys and not leave room unlocked. I was basically asked what did I want and no effort to ask how stay was. Again would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great view and beautiful room for the price! Beach close by and the scenery is awesome! However the resort looks abandoned and run down. In the daylight you can see smears and splatter all over the windows and surfaces in your room, as well had to kill a constant flow of wasps and stink bugs that were already inside the room before opening any windows or doors. Talked to a few people that live at the resort and they said after the current Chinese owners took over the place is falling apart, you can find numerous articles on google. However it was a good time regardless and for the view and the size of the room and price I would go back again. The 2 lower newer buildings are the best ones, the others look reminiscent of “The Shining”. Bring groceries and supplies for your stay and you’ll find it hard not to enjoy yourself regardless, especially if you bring your boat!

Old, dilapidated property, crumbling cement, roadways barely in drivable condition. Beds were a total disaster, deeply slumped in the middle. Wash your own dishes, remove your own garbage.... might have been nice in the 1980s, but certainly not now. Should be $69/night.

The location overall is beautiful. Our room was at the far end so it’s far from the beach but we can see the water. Nice trails though around the area. Beds were comfortable, lots of room for a playpen to be set up. Room had lots of dead little bugs so I didn’t enjoy that and it could use blinds that were darker and worked properly.

Lake Oconee offers a unique experience. We stayed there in late September so it was a little cooler but we still enjoy time sitting at the beach. It's a bit of a walk down for most of the condos they definitely need some stairs down to the beach. But I was told that during the summer they do have a shuttle that would take you. the pool had limited hours due to Covid and it was a real pain to have to sign in and get a key and we never ended up using it as one of the pools was sitting empty and dirty. It wasn't very appealing. Overall we had a good stay.
