Best little hotel in Ocean Park. Hidden away in its own little world. Beautifully decorated and so nostalgic. Loved the room, loved the dining hall, loved all the beautiful art and fantastic book collections. If you’re looking for absolute peace, quiet and serenity… this is the place. 10/10. Will stay here again every time we can.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Moby Dick! I really appreciated the old-time charm and cozy, nostalgic feel. The grounds and surrounding scenery are absolutely beautiful, making it a peaceful place to slow down and enjoy the coast. What makes it even more special is knowing that staying here helps support marine research. That alone makes me even more excited to come back. If you're looking for a quaint, unique place with character and heart, I highly recommend it. I'll definitely be staying here again!

This property was amazing! Just what I needed to get out of town for the weekend. I was so surprised at how beautiful the house was, very nicely designed. Simple but elegant in a vintage sort of way. I definitely will be back. Great location for a single person, or a couple. I wouldn’t recommend young kids here as this was a very quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

There was absolutely nothing about the place. There was no staff to ask. Where to get things, like my room had no glass and I really needed one for water. Pretty place but you could hear everything and everyone. If you stay here bring earplugs.

Staff was great, just needed wash clothes in room. Website needs work though explaining about which rooms have private bathrooms. We got to move to a room with a private bathroom. The staff was very helpful with that. Also Website needs to explain about rooms with extra beds are a separate room. Also there was a notification about no pets but didn't have any information on service dogs. Otherwise, We loved the spot, the room and the area! Can't wait to see what they do with all the building upgrades they're working on! We definitely will stay again. Like to bring the whole family for a big family reunion!

The Moby has a beautiful historic charm about it, excellent customer service, and beautiful nature to explore. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the perfect romantic getaway. The staff here were so kind they truly made it feel like home away from home. It was fairly close to the beach and some wonderful restaurants as well.

I cant say enough about this quaint, yet capable facility and staff. The Moby Dick Hotel is perfectly equipped with all modern amenities yet you receive the personalized service and attention to detail one would expect to find at a pricey boutique bed and breakfast. Especially for being located out in ocean park, you will not find better or more modern technology, SOP, and customer care anywhere, hands down.please choose MDH

Room was clean and of modest size, but even with private bath seemed overpriced. The host could not provide a room key, either at check-in or an hour later when we went off-site for dinner. We felt this was unprofessional and unreasonable. When a room key was finally produced later that night, it was unnecessary as we were checking out the next morning. Other minor issues: bedside clock did not keep time, no facial tissue in the bathroom, water glasses were undersized and held perhaps a quarter cup of water (enough to wash down one pill), the room's two windows had ill-fitting mini-blinds allowing morning light into the room due to the gap between the blinds and window frames. The one flat space in the bathroom for setting down personal items was occupied by an oversized coffee table book, inexplicably located immediately next to an open sided walk-in shower. The hardwood floor hallway outside the room amplified the sound of every guest in a shared hallway, disrupting our sleep throughout the night. We have stayed in less expensive hotels which better understood the basic needs of guests. To top it off, when we saw our host at a local event less than two hours after check-out, no effort was made to acknowledge us or inquire if our stay had been satisfactory. The host seemed disinterested in our comfort or goodwill, which is unfortunate, as we have periodic lodging needs in the area but our experience this time is enough to discourage any return visit.

Loved the quiet area, they had rabbits hopping about. It was nice and peaceful. The only things we didn't like was we didn't have a fridge to keep our food cold, there was no access to ice, and we would have liked a TV in our room.

Quaint

A quite place with a boarding house type of vibe. There is no staff present and many of the rooms do not have bathrooms. It was a very restful place to stay able to watch deer right outside the windows. Bring your. Entertainment as there’s no TVs.

It's a beautiful and quaint place with a lot of history. However, it's definitely not a stay for the whole family. Some of the facility and furniture was in disrepair and it definitely smells like an old building. Amenities are few. No TVs, no on-site laundry, one minifridge and microwave in the common area. Our bathroom was shared by several rooms, and the sink was in the bedrooms themselves... Staff was wonderful and friendly, but not very present. It's a nice place but it needs a bit of work before it becomes more guest-friendly.

It's a cool historic building. But, we got there after dark, couldn't find where to park, no real parking lot, it was pitch black dark, no lights on outside. Door code didn't work, had someone on the phone that gave us a different code. Inside the house was also dark. Very dim lighting. No TV in the rooms, room was very small. No coffee in room. We ended up staying at a friend's the second night. Except for being interested in the history, I wouldn't stay again. There was a book with all kinds of historical information, I was interested in looking at it, but was not enough light to read the words.

There was no sound insulation at all — you could hear everything and everyone around. We couldn’t sleep because of the loud noise. During the day, when our toddler was supposed to nap, they were doing renovations, so we had to put him to sleep in the car. The beds were terrible — any movement caused a very loud creaking. Everything was made of polyester, even the towels. The windows wouldn’t stay open — they kept closing on their own. We regretted going there.

First off, upon arrival, there are 2 people there to help check in (cleaning) they help us to our room (upstairs). We have rooms 5&6. They are shared (literally from 6, we could see inside of 5 & vise versa) we had 2 children with us. Not a big deal. The beds are on cot frames so they move around very easily (if you stand up too fast, they slide). Also when we were putting our things in the rooms, tried to open room 6 & the doorknob fell off. Thankfully the two staff were there and we notified them immediately. They came and fixed it right away which was nice. The stay itself now, it's quiet. Like too quiet. There are no fans, no tv, no radio, nothing. And the rooms are stuffy. There is no airflow unless you open the windows that don't have screens on them. My older child is afraid of all bugs so that was a no go with her. The first night was awful. So it's morning time & I remember reading that breakfast was included in our stay, well we ended up leaving the hotel around 8:45 & there was no signs of any breakfast. The kitchen was locked, so i ended up making a very terrible cup of black coffee. We ended up driving into Long Beach to get McDonald's for breakfast. We ended up at Walmart in Oregon buying us a small desk fan for some noise and air flow. We made our way back to the hotel at dark (just to sleep) we packed up the next morning & left quite early- 8AM. Our checkout time was at 10. Yet again, no signs of breakfast. Never again will my family stay here.
