The Mara is such a gem. Ocean view from the balcony. Very relaxing. Had beach chairs and pastries in the lobby (might have been for the holiday) The staff was so kind and friendly. I had to work on the 4th and they offered to ensure I had a parking spot when I got back late evening. I would highly recommend

Room was very spacious. Loved the coffee/tea machine and complimentary bottled water. Tripped through the doorway to balcony as the threshold stuck up several inches. Very small balcony and no chairs. Only enough towels for one day so asked for a few more and they gave us bath mats. Other guests were very quiet. Staff was very courteous and pretty helpful. All in all the stay was good.

We had a wonderful stay at Mara. Our room was nicely decorated and clean with a very comfortable bed. The pool and rooftop patio had lots of nice outdoor furniture and the patio has a view of the ocean. The staff provided excellent customer service, very friendly and went above and beyond.

We loved the pool area and the terrace on the fourth floor! Such a beautiful place to hang out. The guys that worked the front deck were so helpful and friendly We were not at all thrilled with our room. It was super dark and we had no place to sit outside. Our balcony contained no chairs and was halfway underground. The noise from the road was VERY VERY loud!

Room was messy and not the same as the one pictured when I booked. Bathroom smelled moldy and the flooring was damaged torn up in places. Loud slamming doors all night long. I travel a lot for work and will be back to Laguna Beach but will definitely not be staying here again.

The rooms themselves are clean, but it is an old property that seems to be in continuous repair. Unfortunately, our stay didn't go smoothly in the beginning because the toilet was clogged and had a terrible smell. The staff did their best to fix it, but when they couldn't, they kindly moved us to a different room. The staff were the true rockstars and saving grace here. Armando the handyman was great; very prompt, willing to help, and had a wonderful attitude. Eric at the front desk was amazing during check-in and throughout our stay. The next morning, Dash and Dali were incredibly helpful with suggestions and kept a positive attitude despite how busy they clearly were taking care of the property (and the free Sunday donuts were a lovely touch!). Ruben the manager was also very polite, professional, and easy to talk to. Management promised a $450 refund to compensate for our experience. While we aren't trying to be difficult about the money, it is a matter of principle; if a business makes a promise to a guest to make things right, they should follow through with it. It has now been a week and we haven't received or heard anything yet.

A lot of trouble checking in. Told me room would be ready at a certain time but it took almost 2 more hours. Then they checked me into a dirty room. I came back. Waited a while longer. Then they said my room was ready, so we went up and the code don’t work. Waited more. Finally got in. The room was not impressive. Won’t be staying here again.

The staff went above and beyond in every way and that I appreciated. On the other hand, the shade didn't properly privacy, you could see straight into the room. The sink was cracked so water was everywhere and another sink leaked in the floor. The lamp i slept next to had cobwebs and the internet didn't work. I shared this with the managers and they never got back to me. Hopefully they were busy improving if not hope this review helps

Decent value for summer in Laguna Beach - which can be outrageously expensive. Our room was very basic, but clean. The A/C was very noisy when it came on but the days have been hot and it worked to keep the room cool. Bed was fine, bathroom functional although the water barely trickled from the bathroom sink, but ok pressure in the shower. Never saw the pool. They do have a parking garage for $26 a night which was easy to use. Basic but effective place to stay if you have plans in Laguna.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and the staff was very accommodating, especially Reuben & Armando. Our bed was comfortable and the room was on the street but they provided a white noise machine. The views from the 4th floor were wonderful and it was a great place to relax as well as work. It was a short walk to great coffee and had many wonderful restaurants within walking distance as well. The beach was a short walk across PCH as well.

The staff at the Mara went out of their way to help, answer questions, respond quickly to our needs and requests. If there was a problem, they worked to resolve it to our satisfaction. There was a problem with the elevator breaking down and we needed it since we were on the third floor and my husband is in a wheelchair. It was repaired, but we missed a dinner reservation. However the manager did give us a generous compensation. As far as amenities, the sun deck was very pleasant with nice furniture. The pool was smaller than we expected, but the hot tub was fine. The cleanliness of the pool area needed attention. We would have liked a guest laundry and a bigger lobby for sitting and maybe some vending machines. Our guest room needed some small repairs. Being that it was a wheelchair accessible room, it had no chair or table which was inconvenient. Overall I would give it 3 stars.

A wonderful stay in Laguna Beach l! This beautiful new hotel was just the perfect place for us on South Coast Hwy, just across the street from the Bluebird Canyon access to the beach, a short walk to the Laguna Beach Trolley stop and just down the road from Main Beach and fantastic shopping. The rooms were mostly fern with clean lines and the bathrooms were unusually large and well stocked. A refreshing pool area with hot tub was exactly what our family needed and the rooftop had breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Just across the street was an Amazing restaurant, Mozambique. The parking lot just beneath the hotel made parking a breeze. The staff was exceptionally friendly and made our stay a memorable one. We plan on making Mara Laguna Beach our place to stay for all our Laguna stays!

Very helpful receptionist (Dash) gave us outstanding customer service. Our assigned room was quite spacious and gave us a peek-a-boo ocean view. Only downside is that our room faced the very busy and noisy Pacific Coast Highway. Ask for a room in the backside of the hotel if constant traffic noise bothers you.

This property needs a little TLC. The AC units are wall rattlers which makes some good noise, mini split units would work great instead, really couldn't sit on our balcony due to the noise from the AC unit being right there and it threw off some pretty good heat. The noise from the street was pretty loud, we just turned up the music, they supply sounds machines in our room which made since. Toilet seat could be a soft close to reduce the accidental drop, which I did being use to soft close. The price was a little much for the quality. They shouldn't charge for parking at the cost of the room. Now for the positive notes, The Staff was outstanding! Location was great! Room was ex-large

The air condition in room 204 sounds like a jet engine. My friends were staying in the room next-door, and it was literally so loud that they could hear it through the walls.. the bathroom lights also did not work and when I went down to the lobby to get a hairdryer, they told me they would bring it up to the room in five minutes and nobody ever showed up. I voiced my concerns through their app. They said that they would send somebody from maintenance to take a look at the bathroom light and the air-conditioning and nobody came for that either. Truly a horrible experience, especially considering the price that you’re paying I would expect this at a one star motel.
