Vidamar Resort Hotel Algarve - Dining Around Half-Board

Fantastic 5* hotel in every way. We always hire a car whilst in the Algarve, so being away from the town doesn't bother us but may be of concern if you wanted to go out at night and not use the hotel's restaurants.

Good stay overall attended a wedding. Would have liked to see padding on sunbeds as they were hard wood not very comfortable

We had a lovely stay at this five star resort. The room was very big and spacious, the wardrobe space was perfect for all our clothes and shoes. The bed was bigger than a king size. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly we booked a few excursions through the hotel and they had great prices. All i have to say is beware of the taxi drivers you book from the hotel they like to overcharge you with extras its a shame there is only one shuttle a day to the city centre it would be great if they had multiple time choices. The restaurants at the resort are amazing. We ate at every single one and the food was really tasty. The private beach was beautiful and serene. The sunset snack bar was perfect for lunch if you didnt want to leave the resort. It is a great hotel for a couple or families with children.i would recommend you book a shuttle transfer beforehand as taxis charge 70euros to the hotel from Faro airport which was very expensive.

Good value for money. Great for families with kids, staff were very interactive and accommodating with the kids. Location was mesmerising.

This was not a 5* hotel as advertised. The room was large and well presented with an excellent shower, however the use of two single beds to make up a double along with the overall condition and service levels was poor for a hotel claiming to be at this level. The pool area and nearby public beach were stunning although during our stay the pool cleaning machine was in use during the daytime which was off putting if you wanted to swim. Although three bars are advertised the two indoor ones are small and on either side of the lobby alternating their opening times so that in reality you have only two options at any one time. Having said that the Gin bar staff were excellent, very friendly and knew their stuff. The food was atrocious for the level the hotel claimed to be at, breakfast was edible but no more while the dinner buffet had limited options and was left out for far too long. The onsite Italian restaurant was far better but again if you are looking for anything beyond a 3-4* experience this is not the place to go. I would also advise calling ahead to ensure all amenities are available as we were only informed that the indoor pool/sauna etc were unavailable at the time of checking in, even though they had been out of service since the time of booking.
