Duvet dirty with brown marks, dirty teaspoons not changed. Fire alarm went off at 07:15 in the morning but nobody from hotel on site, firefighters arrived checked hotel but couldn’t reset alarm. Waited until 08:15 but no one arrived on site from hotel during this time fire alarm constantly going. I gave up and left thank god it was last day at hotel. I will never use this hotel again.
This is a run down property. I wont use it again.
Terrible place, didn’t get towels for one of the nights I was there, another morning the fire alarm went off at 06:30 and the poor girl who was left in charge didn’t have a clue how to turn it over, 60 minutes later she figured it out. Central heating did t work in the room, never ever contemplate staying here!
It was very central and good transport and it was lovely to have a bar attached to hotel.
Breakfast was terrible everything was cooked in fat water was not hot enough for a shower 😔😔
Rooms are based around a central bar, very noisy u til 2am, loud music and arguing, everyone smoking on the patio below my room, filled my room with cigarette smoke, not good for a non smoker. Paint and plaster on the walls peeling, shower was useless unless you are a child, very little water, door would not close which meant you lost half of the shower unit. It is very cheap for a reason.
We booked very last minute and it served its purpose
Just about OK hotel too noisy because of the pub downstairs.
the room was clean and tidy, but there was no air condition. the room was like a furnace , so we had to open the window to let in air. the second window had handles , but would not open. we stayed directly above the working mans bar, and it was the worst nights stay I have ever had. the shouting, swearing and singing went on until 1-30am. I would never stay here again, it's now Monday morning and i'm still tired.
We stayed here for two nights and travelled into Edinburgh to the Fringe and tattoo. All the staff were very friendly and helpful from reception, breakfast staff and bar staff. The room had everything that we needed, the only downside was that there was very little sound proofing and we could hear every movement from the room upstairs. We enjoyed a drink in the bar (at a very reasonable price compared to what we had paid in Edinburgh). The music was extremely loud so we took our drinks outside onto the decking only to be told that we weren't allowed to drink outside after 10pm. Not a major problem as we took them to the room. It was the way that we were told that I objected to as it was shouted from the other side of the decking rather than the member of staff (male manager I think) come up and explain that we couldn't drink outside after 10pm because of licensing issued? There were no notices displayed showing this. We would return as it was only a 10 minute walk to the train station and was much more affordable than staying in Edinburgh in August.
