The owner was sweet and the atmosphere quaint. I can definitely give 2 stars for that. The other 2 ⭐️ Stars would be for the included breakfast and the sleeping comfort, both were not great. Both my husband and I woke up separately and said we don’t know if we could come back because the beds were quite hard, the “breakfast” was literally one plate for the entire Inn with a mini pastry covered in plastic, a few individual fruits and we were pretty early. No eggs, no juice, no breakfast bar, or anything. I would say it was more like (a) desert…even bagels and cream cheese with orange juice would have been acceptable. The other issue was no parking. So unfortunately we could not give the star, we Really wanted to. Good customer service goes a long way, so we we’re giving an extra star for that, because we don’t want to leave this place with just 2 stars.

Fantastic bar and hotel right in the middle of Historic Newtown, PA. Steps from many high end restaurants, pubs, clothing stores, gift shops, salons and health services. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Full throated recommendation for this reasonably priced jewel of the area.

Outstanding place to stay and the staff are top notch. Ask Dave, the best bartender for the sparkles😀

It has a bed and breakfast kind of feel until you get to breakfast...there was a breakfast nook, with a kurig machine and STALE pasteries and for the price of the stay a fresh pastery tray should have been the minimal effort. Stayed for convenience but would never stay again. Checking in was an adventure as well, stood at the front desk for 5 minutes, finally called their phone number, the lady on the phone said "someone wil be right out" ...10 minutes later I had to call again. This property seems to run the hotel part of their business as an afterthought. Certainly not a value at $180 a night.

The breakfast left much to be desired but we were warned about this in advance. In the parking was a little confusing but we found a spot easily. Interesting piece of history thank you

It is a very nice and historic place. It was exactly what we expected from this type of hotel. Great location, in the center of town, but there is an issue with parking. The street parking is limited to 2-3 hours and there are only ~5-6 spots behind the hotel that are a 4 minute walk away. Overall, the hotel is very nice. We found the historic aspects of the building very attractive (e.g. narrow stairs, antique mirrors). The room included a kitchenette, but there were no glasses or any utensils. The refrigerator did not work and there was scant furniture in the room (no table or desk, just one chair to sit on) which we found inconvenient. We visited during Christmas and thus expected some additional courtesies in terms of hospitality and decorations. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the lack of Christmas decorations for such a boutique historic hotel. We asked the hotel staff for suggestions for open restaurants on Christmas Day to eat lunch, but received no response. We had to research the area ourselves. It would have been nice if the staff prepared a directory of nearby available options for food and entertainment. For such a small hotel, we would expect the staff to be less impersonal. Our suggestion for the management would be to improve their hospitality skills for future guests. Overall, it is a nice hotel and we would recommend it. The main issue we had was with the hospitality of the staff.

Great location in the center of a historic town, so pretty at Christmastime! We had good meals in the attached restaurant. The room was up steep narrow stairs but to be expected from a building from the 1700s. Continental breakfast was a little sparse. The room was clean and comfortable and had a modern bathroom. We’ll be back.

Loved the history behind the property which was explained to us as we entered our room. The staff was very friendly. The room (#3) was spacious, although the bathroom was quite tiny. The bed was very comfortable, among the softest sheets and duvet I've ever experienced. The coffee / tea room was lovely, with a yummy assortment of pastries waiting for us in the am. There is also a microwave and refrigerator in that room. We stayed the night of Dec. 9 and there was a loud party downstairs in the bar, but it was quiet by 10 pm. The only issue we had was the very limited parking. We managed to get the last spot in a tiny lot behind the hotel, otherwise finding a spot on the street would not have been easy and the prospect of having to carry our luggage a distance was not something we would have anticipated. Luckily that didn't happen. However, all in all, it was a pleasant stay. We went to Peddler's Village that evening and then to New Hope the following morning. We definitely want to explore Newtown in the near future and we would most likely stay again at the Temperance House.

This is a quaint 18th century hotel rumored to be haunted. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was very clean. We were disappointed that we did not see any ghosts but we had a great time! I highly recommend this hotel.
