Element Austin Downtown

Let me preface by saying that we stayed here on New Year's Eve during the pandemic. When we got there, we learned that many services (including room service, which we were counting on) and the Element lobby itself were closed. That meant that all guests for both the Element and Aloft hotels had to check in at the same desk, which shares a space with the upstairs bar/restaurant. And it was CROWDED. So for anyone worried about contracting Covid, this is not the hotel for you. Furthermore, once we got into the suite that we paid extra for, we found the saddest, darkest, most uncomfortable room and actually ended up asking for a downgrade to a regular king room, which at least had natural light. Finally, there was an extremely loud noise coming from the street (after the NYE festivities wound down) as well as a high whine coming from somewhere in the hotel that made us unable to sleep. Bottom line: we had to venture into the cold, rainy night for dinner takeout, and we checked out of the hotel at 5 am with no sleep.

The location is great. Some things were lacking. Service to the room did not exist and worst of all the heat would never come on even after I complained about it to the desk. Had to purchase a space heater to use during our stay. I spite of that we will probably stay again. The staff was very helpful, especially the valet staff. That were great!

The hotel is so chic and has so many cool offerings as far as dining and bars.

Simply awesome place to stay

We were there for 2 days, we both drink coffee in the morning. There was coffee for one person and one morning and no room service.

I hate Marriott Hotels continually bombarding me with phone calls about a vacation package, each time from a different phone number, so blocking the calls means nothing. I even registered a complaint with the national do not call registry, and it has made no difference. If this keeps up, I will never stay at another Marriott hotel.

PICTURES ARE DECEIVING. To start this off my experience here was awful in so many ways. They make it out to be a five star hotel but it really is a sleazy cheap hotel with no amenities. For starters the staff were extremely rude. We got into our room and the tv was no where near the bed and wasn’t in a visible spot to watch it so we switched rooms. Then It says parking available online but doesn’t tell you valet parking was the only parking and It’s an additional $49 per day. Everytime I used valet I had to wait about 40 minutes to get my car. One point I was sitting in my car waiting for the keys and one of the employees were sitting there on their phone so I had to honk my horn twice to get his attention. It says there was room service online, when my girlfriend called about it the guy at the front desk made a rude comment and said “we don’t even have people to run it up.” Then it says house keeping online and there was absolutely no house keeping we used the same towels all week and didn’t get the sheets changed once. We went down for the “free breakfasts” and still was charged. The overall experience there was awful.

Great hotel! Very safe and it has 2 bars and a cafe. Great location as well, only downside is that you HAVE to pay for valet parking and that's $50 s it gets pricey if you're there for 4 days. Everything else was awesome even with COVID they managed to give you a small but filling breakfast.

The pictures and reviews were deceiving. We were unable to access all the amenities. The rooms were sub par for the cost. The shower flooded the bathroom in one of our rooms and we were brought towels to ckean it up ourself. We had to call back down to have someone come clean up. There were no linens for the fold out. We waited 2 hrs for them to be delivered and they were placed outside the door on the floor without knocking. In the morning the cleaning staff entered the room unannounced 3hrs before check out. This was a horrible stay. I would not recommend this hotel at all especially for the price.
