Sophia Hotel

The hotel was awesome, clean, great service, the staff was veryfriendlyand helpful....loved the breakfast brought up to our room. The hotel is walking distance to everything you need....bars, restaurants, pharmacy, grocery store. Our room was very nice, comfortable bed and pillows. I have no complaints. We had an excellent stay of 3 nights in beautiful Cartagena. I would come back and stay here again.

Best location and customer service in the entire country.

Pros: Location, friendly staff. Cons: Sophia "suite" size is grossly misrepresented with no wow factor (very plain / dark), not 4* luxury, no mini bar, firm bed, no real bathroom (single basin in the bedroom, with glass divider to shower / toilet with little privacy), oscillating hot / cold shower water, lack of view except when standing (due to plant height), broken canopy, toilet paper not replaced (ran out), sub-par breakfast (juice, coffee, fruit and eggs, with stale / inedible bread both days), single / small bottle of water (extra cost for more), cigarette butts around terrace. We arrived at 12:30 pm (hotel notified prior), didn't expect room to be ready but they said 1 - 2 hours. Ended up waiting for more than 3 hours (in room at 3:40 pm, 40 minutes after check-in despite complaining). Went to the pool bar to use our bar credit a couple of times, no bartender to be found. We were both really disappointed with the property and don't understand the other glowing reviews. We've stayed in many different hotels in Old Town which are way better (e.g. Santa Clara, Quadrifolio, Bastion, Noi, Casa San Agustin etc) and it seems like some folks are conflating their magical Old Town experience with their positive reviews of this hotel. After two days we switched to an 80 sq.m. suite at the Intercontinental which was huge in comparison (even though the Sophia Suite is advertised as being larger). For us this was really like a 2* or 3* property and lacked any real management

Loved our stayed, took you back in history. It was unfortunate that some areas for dancing were not available.

We loved this Boutique Hotel in the “Old Town” of Cartagena. From the start personalized 5 star service. Beautiful classic property with traditional decoration. Terrace for sunsets is a must! Staff made our stay a great experience. Highest human warmth starting from the GM Andres, Mauricio front desk to kitchen and cleaning staff. We needed a special diet to which they were very accommodating, also recommendations for restaurants and things to do were outstanding! I never write reviews but this property definitely deserved it. We will be back very soon and hope to make this our home away from home!

The Sophia,is a beautiful hotel in a great location in the Walled City of Cartegena. From the moment we walked into the hotel, the whole ambience of a friendly, clean, hotel was felt. All of the staff, and I mean all, could not do enough for us, always ready to Help, with any questions or queries we had. Special thanks to Maryoris, Deiver, and Karelia, who looked after us. The breakfast was amazing, excellent choices of foods, and coffees. The roof pool, and view were amazing. We would definitely return to this beautiful hotel.

Perfect location. I had the terrace room and the views of the city were amazing. Great service all around.

The staff, property, management was AMAZING!!!! I truly enjoyed my stay and would recommend anyone visiting to stay at the Sophia Hotel in the walled city.

This was a nice hotel in a great location.The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. They had a few who spoke decent English which was helpful. Great breakfast!
