It was a last minute booking for us. But no regrets at all, excellent cozy place. Amazing staff. Rooms are simple and cozy. The lodge is far from the city lights and helps a lot if you wanna spot the northern lights. Plus, they also have 2 hot tubs were you can enjoy at night seeing the northern lights.

When we turned off the road toward the property, we thought our GPS wasn't working. It looked like we were going out into a beautiful, remote area with nothing but views. True, except for the wonderful cabins and main area of this property. Really nice and quiet and remote with beautiful views everywhere. A short drive to local eateries and a great stop on the tour of Iceland

This hotel is in a convenient spot right off the ring road. It is easy to find, and was well stocked with needed ammenities for our stay. The breakfast was excellent (we loved the espresso machine), and we appreciated that it came free with our night’s stay. Be forewarned- the walls are thin and noises carry!

Lovely quiet location. The room was cozy and welcoming. There is a wonderful view of the landscape from the lobby/bar, making it a perfect place to relax with a cocktail in the evening and do some birdwatching in the morning. Great breakfast included.

8/10 Very Good

The area is okay, but can tell the property is a little bit rundown with creaking floor sound and thin walls. Certain parts of the floor are also rotten and old. Toilet is very small as well. But the reception area is beautiful and the breakfast is the best we had throughout our trip. The staff are rather nice as well.

The hotel experience everyone hopes for
Our stay at the Aurora Lodge only lacked a viewing of the Northern Lights - not their fault, obviously - otherwise we would easily choose overnight of our nearly two week visit to Iceland to be as well taken care of as we were at the Aurora. For us, they set the bar in terms of breakfast options, especially for so small of a hotel. The room was comfortable - easy to get to. The people were friendly and helpful. If we make it back to Iceland - we WILL make it back to the Aurora - a national treasure in our book.

Easy to check in and out. I'm not a big breakfast fan but there's was very good! Main building is beautiful, nice big window to sit near, enjoy the fire, and have a drink.

Enjoyed seeing the amazing view of the Northern Lights every night we were there. First from the hot tub, then above my cabin. The next night from the main lodge! I had an amazing Mojito while I enjoyed the view! The staff were kind, and accommodating, breakfast was very good also. Thank you for a great stay!

This hotel was a great find! The location feels so far away and isolated all by itself - the peaceful nature is great yet town is only 5 minutes away. We had room 14 which faced a wide open field and lucky for us, we could see the Northern Lights from our room - our bed, actually! Great to be nice and warm and pop out onto the deck to take photos instead of being out in some random field. The room was very clean and modern - a nice woodsy feel. The only negative would be that the walls are pretty thin - every movement next door sounded like was in your own room. But we were able to get over that given the amazing view and niceness of the property. The breakfast was good - a mix of hot and cold foods and the staff was friendly. Definitely recommend this spot!

Aurora Lodge Hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a lovely 1 night stay here. The rooms are well decorated with a great view, the hotel receptionist was very friendly and provided great recommendations. The breakfast was one of the best breakfast we had at Iceland! The only regret we had was not staying longer at the Lodge.

4/10 Fair

Be careful with this hotel and read reviews!
Travelled around Iceland and stayed in many hotels and guesthouses. All of them had better price / quality ratio! We booked 4 nights in advance for $280 per night. Upon arrival we noticed a huge mismatch between the price and the overall level of the hotel. We decided to check the current prices. It was $170 for the same room. I know about the live pricing, but normally hotels go from reasonable price to a discounted. Aurora Lodge does the opposite: they start from extremely overpriced rate and then come to a more or less reasonable rate. So, based on $280 - the hotel is bad and the service is very poor. In more details: -Small rooms -No sound proofing -No TV/Phone/Locker -Only one wardrobe did not have neither doors nor shelves (= useless) -No place to put anything -No socket for kettle -Fantastic landscape, but windows facing inner car park -No shower gel in the hotel (only shampoo) -No shelves in the shower -Very poor breakfast (ham, cheese, cereals. That’s it. Good coffee for an extra charge) -Hot tubs outside, but no shower. Wanna take a shower - walk across the car park. -The “hot” tub is cold in the afternoon, -Sauna, but the entrance is strait from outside. No place to put towels/glasses/anything else. -Only one lady from the hotel stuff. She was handling literally everything. Cooking breakfast with one hand and checking out guests at the same time with another one.
