The district's upscale-casual restaurants serve Southern fusion cuisine in converted warehouse spaces perfect for dinner before a show. While there's limited lodging within the district itself, the area's pedestrian-friendly layout makes exploring its historical and artistic elements a breeze with convenient paid parking options nearby.

Join monthly art walks to see local works showcased amid exposed beams and original machinery. The district hosts regular performances that spotlight Durham's thriving creative community. Small cafes and farm-to-table spots occupy converted mill spaces, with most closing early around 9 PM. You'll find unique accommodations in boutique B&Bs and vacation rentals housed in historic mill worker homes. The Durham Hotel

The Durham Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The key to this hotel is the location in the heart of downtown Durham. It was a quick Uber ride for us to go anywhere, including the Duke game at Cameron Indoor Arena. Lots of good places to eat nearby. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was large and suited our needs. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return to The Durham Hotel."

"Fire alarm went off late at night, none of the workers acknowledged it or explained what was going on after the fact. The lady working that night was rude and barely acknowledged me when I asked what caused it to go off. Room was decent and clean but had a very old smell to it. Won’t be back."

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Raleigh/Durham Southpoint

2/10 Terrible
"Unfortunately, there was a mistake made when booking the reservation as this property is similarly named as the Raleigh Durham Airport location. Despite attempts made by me and Hotels.com the property refused to make any attempt to help with the mistake. The front desk staff was unhelpful and the manager that can make the decision was unavailable on Saturday night when I was at the wrong hotel with no reservation. They need to better advertise their location in their name to make it less confusing for a weary traveler making a last minute reservation for a stay. It will be the last time that I use the La Quinta brand over their lack of care in resolving the mistake. I asked for any kind of help or refund and never insisted on a full refund as I do understand that I was also part of the mistake. Customer service is lacking and hotels need to do more to ensure guest satisfaction. "
