I booked a Superior Twin room with a sea view but I wasn’t impressed with the room one bit. I’m not sure what was superior about it. I have previously stayed in a superior double here before and it was noticeable superior so I can only assume I was given a standard room. The doors to the rooms are a bit clunky and I could hear other doors closing, and I could also hear dogs barking in nearby rooms - and I can’t believe the hotel would allow dogs in a Superior Room. In fact there seemed to be several dogs in the hotel including a couple of large mountain dogs, and there were two dog water bowls in the bar area - which I found totally unacceptable. Breakfast was okay but I’ve previously stayed in 4 other hotels in Exmouth which all served a nicer, and freshly cooked breakfast, so by contrast the Imperial Hotel breakfast is bottom of the list. The hotel bar didn’t seem to have any decent ales on offer so I didn’t use it.
The garden and sea views are nice, and the car park is a plus, but parking is £6 per night. The assessable lift was out of order for the duration of our visit.
