I booked the hotel online the night before with no problems. When I got to the hotel the next evening, it was closed--there was yellow tape around the entrance and a closed sign on the door. There was no one there to ask about what happened (fire??), so I had to leave. It was sad because I really like to stay here.

Television didn't work. Couldn't get on Wi-Fi. No breakfast to go bags, no coffee. When you walked in to register it smelled very good. Nice gal at front desk when I arrived. Evening guy was terrible and rude.

All TV's on the back end of the hotel don't work.

I was told that ever since a storm took out the TVs, the TVs on the lower end of the hotel do not work. Also you must go up to the top floor to get ice since the ice macnhine does not work on the main level. The front desk clerk was very accomodating offering to give me another room at the front of the hotel. HUsband was too tired to pack everything up and move Then at 7 am the personnel came to the room and knocked on the door to give us a new TV cable box. By the time my husband woke up and got to the door, they were using the key and coming in. Mind you 7 in the morning!!!

Rooms need cleaned better

Easy access, right off the highway, but nothing else to do nearby. Due to COVID19 we decided to clean before we got comfortable and couldn’t believe how disgusting even the high touch surfaces in the room was. The shower drain looked like it had blood, it was just gross. I was disappointed I was still charged full price for the room but no free breakfast, could have discounted or at least done a carry out type breakfast.

Great place, greater price.

We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and appearance of the inside of the property. From the outside it looks average but it is above average on the inside. Great price. Unfortunately they have had to suspend breakfast but at the price we didn’t mind. We would stop again if in the area.

Loved the wall decor/headboard. Most items were outdated..only shampoo and soap were provided, a towel rack and the toilet paper dispenser were coming out of the wall.

Arrived in Walnut after driving for 12 hours to get home ASAP with the COVID 19 crisis. The lady who registered us could not have been nicer or more helpful. Very welcome after a long stressful day.

The room was big and fairly clean. Disappointed with the bathroom shower . It wouldn’t drain properly so if you run the shower your standing in 2 or more inches if water and when your turn on the shower head the faucet pulls out of the wall. There was a whole in the ceiling for the heating light but no heating light just the socket and cobwebs. The “hot” breakfast... the only thing hot was waffles, biscuits and gravy. The clerk in the morning was sitting on the couch in front of a blaring tv. How rude to guests!

Fit the bill

Just needed a place to lay my head while driving across the country, and this fit the bill perfectly and affordably! The nice restaurant and gas station located next to the property were very convenient as well!

A great resource for the frugal traveler is back

We stayed at the Walnut Super8 several years ago, including just after the renovation. On our last trip along the I-80 corridor, we were disappointed to learn it was closed because of an electrical fire. Happy to again stay in the large, nicely appointed rooms!

For a small Iowa town, this hotel is very up to date and very clean. Would definitely stay again

The toilet was not flushed and thus not cleaned. The overhead bathroom fan was not covered; it was open revealing spiders. There were gnats in the room. The exterior doors were open to anyone, thus less security. On the positive side they allow dogs with no extra charge if you disclose up front that you brought a dog. The bed was comfortable. Overall was too expensive.
