This was a great stay. The location was perfect with lots of things to do and restaurants in walking distance. The staff was awesome. Helpful and friendly. The room was clean and really comfy. The only con is that parking is REALLY tight. Come in a sedan, not an SUV.... but then large vehicles will face many challenges in Newport beyond tight parking.

This place was exactly what I was hoping for. Staying in a place built in the mid 1700’s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places was an exciting and culturally enriching experience. Great location, off street parking, and a very attentive staff made this an enjoyable visit.

The room was comfortable. The bathroom is quite small, especially the shower and sink. The hardware and vent fan definitely needs replaced. The lowlight was wires hanging from the tv mounted crookedly at the foot of my bed. In the 12” I had to walk to the other side of the bed, I had to walk past and step loose wires. I love Newport and the location of the Melville House. The breakfasts were excellent and Rick is quite a character!

It’s cute but very small rooms and very loud when they do repair or construction things in the house. When people talk you can hear it so easy, same for most sounds made in the rooms. This is all fairly normal

We were upgraded to the Cleveland House for a minimal charge because my partner has mobility issues. It was on the first floor and very nice. Thank you so much Rick! The blueberry pancake was the best I have ever eaten and highly recommend it! It was awesome and I requested crispy bacon and it was perfect. It was a totally perfect experience! We ate at the Brick Alley restaurant within walking distance and had their award winning hamburger! Wow! The next day we toured the Breakers and Marble House mansions. Hard to believe the amount of wealth in those times spent on “cottages” for 6 weeks. I brought home a beautiful dark green gorgeous “Newport Mansions” sweater as a memory of our trip. It was a very memorable quick visit to Newport which was a stop on our way north to visit family.

They have on site convenient parking. The staff was pleasnt & helpful, had very little interaction with them. Room literally had cobwebs around windows. Our room was shabby, old holes from shelving in walls, not patched, peeling ceiling, odd items & furniture that made it feel more like a storage room. Sagging bed, broken chandelier. Old historical is one thing but this was just shabby. It is in an ideal location, everything in Newport was walkable from the Inn.
