For a hotel in the IHG group, this location and hotel was very disappointing. Being that it is only about 10 years old, the property was very poorly kept. The issues of mold in our rooms (we had to change our initially issued room at check-in due to the very bad mold issue) led to suffering physically. My mother, my 5yo and I were all suffering from the mold exposure, from sneezing coughing wheezing body aches etc. Also, other guests were repeatedly smoking in this NON-smoking hotel - yet hotel staff were unable to do anything about it since they were "not caught in the act" and therefore unable to prove or push the issue further. Really tragic that guests find loopholes in the law to go about smoking anyways. Housekeeping can easily tell who has been smoking in the rooms, yet that isnt enough? Apparently guilty parties can just claim they didnt, or had smoked outside and returned - causing the scent in their rooms, and thats that. This is an issue of most hotels in Hong Kong, not just this hotel from my experience. Anyway, back to this being IHG and a big reason why we chose it in the first place. IHG hotels have been nothing but wonderful in other locations we have experienced, but based on this experience it will make us think twice before choosing IHG in Hong Kong ever again. Even though HK is a humid city, clean out your filters rugs and curtains or replace them!!! This is really unacceptable, making people sick.
