6/10 Gott

Make sure to ask for a room in the house!
We were a little disappointed in our room location. We had been here a week before this visit for a music festival, and the house looked amazing, so we booked a room for our return trip.
We got a "basement" room! Not in the historic house!
It is NOT a Bed & Breakfast, just a Bed. It used to be a B&B, but in the last few years it was sold, and is now a "Historic Inn". Some other folks on the historic tour of the house said they got to stay in an upper floor room, but we were in what was obviously a "cellar" (maybe we didn't pay enough for a real room?!). During the tour, they even said that the lower level was used to hide horses from enemy soldiers during the Civil War. Yuck!
As for the room itself, during the winter, it has a working gas fireplace, but it was shut off for the summer. The shower and water pressure was decent, the bed was comfortable. The heat/AC was adequate to keep the temperature comfortable, despite the rain and chill of being in the basement. The room and shower were well cleaned.
Parking was minimal, with our car parked about 200 feet away over gravel road (difficult for wheeled suitcases to traverse).
Oh, did I mention that the only amenities was Kurig coffee. The restaurant required reservations, and of course we had none. Good thing we had snacks with us!
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate this about a 6.5. Nowhere near as nice as I had expected, especially for the price.
