Across the street from two gorgeous beaches, one mostly sand, the nearer one with volcanic rocks which yield some fun tide-pools. Very short walk to three strip-malls, full of stores and restaurants: seafood, Mexican, Thai, fine dining, coffee, ice cream, shave ice--it's all an easy walk.
Lots of pedestrian crossings over to the beach.
We're so glad we didn't spend the extra money to stay on the beach side.
Service was good, not exceptional; we had to ask for extra pillows a second time--not a big deal.
Now that we know the Kihei area, we would happily stay there again.
