Nightmare!
It was a nightmare. Before I provide details, I tell you that I stayed at a Divi-family hotel in Aruba in 2024–which was great and the reason that I selected to stay at Divi in St. Maarten in 2025.
However, the St. Maarten stay was a horror show for several reasons.
(1) Checkin - they didn’t give me the type of room that I reserved. It took one hour to get the correct room.
(2) Checkin - they initially told me that I did not have the $80 credit that I was promised when I reserved the room—but when I showed them my confirmation, all of a sudden the credit appeared on their screen.
(3) No room cleaning - on the second day, they forgot to clean our room. Fortunately, we were on a day trip; thus, didn’t need the room until the evening. We asked for them to send someone to clean the room while we went to dinner. They said they would send someone at 7:00–but when we returned at 10:00 PM, the room was not cleaned. We had to complain again before they finally cleaned the room.
(4) Unfriendly beach staff - the workers who set up the beach chairs and the umbrellas passed by you unless you waved cash at them to show that you intend to tip them.
Lack of available taxis -When we walked to reception to go to dinner at restaurants that were off the resort, there would be groups waiting for taxis and eventually were late for their dinner reservations because taxis were not readily available at the hotel. Thereafter, we called a taxi ourselves to pick us up and drop us off when needed.
