Our stay at the Hilton Chicago Downtown Riverwalk from Saturday through Tuesday was extremely disappointing and left our group feeling unwelcome and poorly treated.
We booked three rooms for a party of 10 people and were required to pay $150 incidental holds per room (totaling $450), along with valet parking at $71 per day plus tax. Despite the high cost associated with this property, the level of service we received during check-in and throughout the stay did not reflect the standard expected from a Hilton property.
At check-in, the front desk agent provided very little information about the hotel. We were not informed that the restaurant was closed, nor were we told how to access the Wi-Fi, where amenities were located, or how valet parking worked. These are basic details typically shared with guests upon arrival. We only learned some of this information after overhearing the staff explaining it to other guests.
Additionally, our group was placed on lower floors without being given any options, while we overheard other guests being offered choices regarding their room locations. This inconsistency in how guests were treated raised concerns for us.
Another frustrating issue involved late checkout. The night before departure, we were told that a late checkout would be granted. However, the following morning we were informed that it was not allowed unless we paid $25 per room, which we ultimately had to do. The information given to us was inconsistent & frustrating
