You shouldn't miss Cave Shepherd, an enormous department store that has been a cornerstone of Bridgetown’s shopping scene since 1906. Browse through a wide range of perfumes, housewares, furniture, electronics, and gifts before heading to the top-floor food hall for tasty Barbadian food.

Pelican Craft Village is a great place to buy distinctive works by a local artist in Barbados. You can find it in Bridgetown, around 900 metres southeast of the Cruise Port. Here, you can choose from paintings, prints, wall hangings, and traditionally woven straw baskets and mats, as well as unique studio pottery and metalwork. As mahogany carving is an old craft on the island, you'll find several stores selling magnificent sculptures.
You can wander around Pelican Craft Village’s many studios and watch local craftspeople at work. Among the brightly coloured stores and tropical flowerbeds are plenty of restaurants and cafés, where you can take a break between shopping. Several stores sell local confectionery – keep an eye out for delicious Barbados rum cakes.

The Cheapside Public Market is where Barbados' farmers and producers gather every day to sell their wares. Shop for sweet potatoes, mangoes and guavas, or try more unusual produce like breadfruit and soursop. The market has a refrigerated section selling locally sourced chicken, pork and lamb, along with several stalls displaying aromatic herbs and spices.
Half the market is open-air while the other half occupies a beautifully restored market hall. Head upstairs for food stands offering local snacks like marinated plantain and fried chicken. There are also vendors selling jewellery, accessories, handmade dresses, and vintage clothing at the Cheapside Public Market.

Oistins Fish Market is the heart of Oistins Village, an old fishing community on Barbados' south coast. Here, you can buy the morning's catch, which generally includes tuna, marlin, swordfish, or lobster, along with the Barbadian special, flying fish. Pick out the fish you want and the vendors will clean and slice it right in front of you.
The market has a few craft stalls selling pottery, wood carvings and leather goods. On Friday and Saturday nights, the Oistins Fish Fry attracts locals and tourists looking to enjoy grilled fish, drink rum or local beer, and listen to live music in Barbados.

Highland Pottery
Charming ceramics made with local clay

Highland Pottery is a locally owned pottery studio that makes stunning handcrafted ceramics. You can find it in the Scotland District of Barbados, which is known for its distinctive red clay. Choose from a nice selection of bowls, plates, teapots, garden planters, and vases, or take home one of the pottery's adorable ceramic turtles as a memento.
Visit around midday to see an awe-inspiring demonstration of the potters at work. You can even attend a pottery workshop and have a go at making your own ceramics. Thanks to Highland Pottery's location on the hillside of St. Andrews, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the island and the surrounding ocean.
