This was definitely a different kind of stay for us. We're from out East where YMCA locations typically don’t come with resort-style lodging—this one felt more like a summer camp campus meets mountain retreat (in a good way).
We only stayed one night, in dorm-style housing, and while it wasn’t luxurious, the room was clean and tidy, and we slept well—even without A/C. The lack of air conditioning didn’t bother me, but my in-laws are used to more traditional hotel comforts, so it was a bit of an adjustment for them.
The grounds were beautiful, with mountains all around and a peaceful vibe, despite lots of teens playing sports on the lawn near the main lodge. The foyer area could’ve been cleaner, but the office and on-site store were great and well-run.
Overall, this place would be an awesome base for a longer stay with the kids. Tons of open space, outdoor activities, and a family-friendly atmosphere—just don’t expect hotel-style amenities. We’d gladly come back for a longer adventure.
