We arrived afterhours and at no stage prior to arrival were we provided with an after-hours contact number. Once inside the room, we immediately began noticing a number of issues: unclean towels and bedding: two of the towels had visible stains and were unusable. Additionally, the blankets and pillowcases on both of the beds and stored in the cupboard, were stained and had holes in them. A loud, buzzing noise (which sounded like a pump/fridge) in the room prevented us from sleeping. After some investigation, we moved the bedhead, which was resting against the wall behind the single bed to discover a 45cm open hole in the wall. This hole exposed pipe and rodent faeces. The skirting boards, window sills and bedheads were extremely dusty. While brushing my teeth I even saw a cockroach crawling on the bathroom mirror. The open hole behind the bedhead posed a serious health and hygiene risk. We were extremely uncomfortable and could not sleep properly worried about rodents entering the room. As we could not contact anyone after reception had closed, we advised the desk staff about the issues on departure the next morning. The receptionist claimed to be unaware of the situation, mentioned they would contact maintenance but did not offer any apology or resolution. This experience was extremely disappointing and well below the standards one should expect from any accommodation. No compensation was offered. Just disgusting.
