We recently returned to our favorite spot for visiting the San Juan Capistrano Mission, a place we’ve cherished for years due to its convenient location. Each visit has always been special, and we usually treat ourselves by booking a room with a balcony, even though it comes at a premium compared to regular rooms.
In the past, the balcony was a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, with a little table and two chairs set up for relaxation. However, last year, we noticed a slight change—there was only a single chair. While this was unusual, it was manageable. But this year was a real disappointment: the balcony was completely bare. No chairs, no table, nothing. When we called the front desk to inquire, we were met with an explanation that balcony chairs were simply not available.
It’s puzzling and frustrating to be charged extra for a balcony room that lacks the very amenities that make it worth the price. It feels like a missed opportunity for the property to maintain its charm and value. We hope they reconsider this policy, as we truly enjoy staying here and would love to continue our tradition with the comfort we’ve come to expect.
