Really tired hotel, DON’T trust the 5 star rating!
I booked a “Deluxe double” but was at first taken to a compact double on the third floor, reeking of mouldy smell, and really tiny, the window didn’t close fully and the locks on the window facing a derelict home were broken. The floorboards under the carpet were bulging and creaked loudly when walking around the room, I called the reception and was offered to take a look at another room on the first floor.
The second room did in fact look like the deluxe double on the pictures and was a bit larger than the previous room, didn’t reek of mould and the floorboards were a bit sturdier, the window was a terrace door that didn’t open and had half stained windows and was forced closed with tiny wires. Locks were bent or broken and wouldn’t have been much obstacle for a thief.
The hdmi port for the tv didn’t work, the fan in the tiny bathroom sometimes didn’t come on so showers were more like steam-room sessions, room didn’t have a coffee maker like stated in the description but a small electric kettle with packets of Nescafé, lights flickered constantly if not set to max brightness.
The hotel interior was dated and old, corridors tight and low ceiling height, one small elevator without any keycard activation. I went to the bar one afternoon for a beer only to find out they just had bottled beer and not the good kind… stella, peroni…
A few good points to be fair the hotel location is really close to Paddington station, staff was nice, ac and beds were ok.
Wouldn't stay again
