Beautiful but old hotel
The owner was really nice but we had no hot water in our room, and had to take a shower in a different room. A breathtaking view from the hotel and the room balcony is tiny but great view!

Superb Views, Excellent Cook, and Very Nice Hosts
The hotel is probably the second-best on the island, therefore, I suggest to put in balance the good and the "exotic" factors. The restaurant is really outstanding. More specifically, the dinner meals were absolutely delicious. I tried the tropical sauces, the Pizza, the salad - everything was very tasty. The hosts are very nice and try to help in any way they can. Always with a smile. The hotel is positioned only minutes from the landing dock of the ferry, just across the street from ones of the beaches, and still in "downtown" Taboga. It is very cutely decorated, with vintage and a mixed colonial and French theme. However, one has to take into account the inexpensive rooms and expect no fridge, no hair-drier, no working bed-lamps, and no luxury features. It is pretty difficult to get across any specific requests if you do not speak Spanish. There are a total of 65 steps from the street level to your room, so take that into consideration - in case you have any mobility issues. Also to keep in mind is that you are on a tropical island, with no screened windows and in a hot and humid climate, meaning you may encounter tiny ants in the bathroom, or even the odd mean-biting little fly. Make sure you pack some insect repellant if you are skin-sensitive.

1 of the limited choices on the island
For the price- the place is over rated, not sure the hotel rating at the current moment, but I would give it a 2. This being said, because you don't have many options for stay on the island. Pros- Authentic little hotel Open balcony to let in the fresh air ( temp. usually 35 C+) Only hotel that has a restaurant open in the evening Amazing view over looking the beach Great food with the limited options on the Island The wait staff which was also Bell boy, Maid, Handy man and go to person at the hotel, He spoke almost no English but was very attentive and great customer service The rooms have large ceiling fans Cons- You have to walk up about 80+ stairs to get to the hotel-- with luggages it was a nightmare. The rooms are small which is ok but not for the price No running water after 11pm till 7am - Toilet or sink No air conditioner in most of the rooms which is ok but they should add that to the hotel description when booking The rooms with air conditioner is an additional $25 a night -- Which didnt make any difference No fridge which is standard on any hotels in the island There was a visit in the middle of the night inside our room by a large cockroach --I understand insects are apart of island life-- No judgement just not a fan Check in process was a bit laid back All hotel charges are to be paid at the hotel- which is fine, this should be in the hotel description on the tour operators website. This is for the TOUR OPERATORS not hotel

2/10 Poor

Terrible, not what we expected for the price.
The property is ok, but they do not take good care of it. We had no water at night and we could not take a shower in the morning, towels were ripped, no telephone, no change of towels, did not make the beds, no air conditioned, breakfast said 7:30 and the cook arrived at 8:00. Dinner was supposed to be at 6:30PM and they started serving at 8:00PM. The room had one chair and not even a small table.

Bed bugs! (Chinches!)
The location and view are great, but our room had bed bugs... a lot of bed bugs. We woke up with 5 dead adults a couple of nymphs visible on our sheets and pillows along with a bunch of little blood stains, and there were many more bed bugs in all stages visible once we looked under the bed. I counted about 80 bites on myself. We were given a refund, and the hotel manager said that this is the first time they saw this (without displaying any surprise). I'm not sure if I believe that as the problem could not have gotten that out of hand without anyone realizing or complaining.

Tranquil
We spent 6 nights at Hotel Vereda Tropical in a double Oceanview room, fan but no A/C. Taboga is very hot and humid but we found that the fan and ocean breezes made the room reasonably comfortable. Small, but clean room. Bed was comfortable. There were 2 small bedside tables and a wardrobe but no hangers. I think they would have been supplied if requested. Flat screen TV with satellite TV. Hot water in shower did not work, shampoo not supplied. Unlimited drinking water was provided. Basic breakfast was included, including coffee, eggs and toast or pancakes and coffee. Abdil was the staff member who we primarily interacted with. He provided exemplary customer service and in my opinion is the primary reason that this hotel runs well. Nobody else was friendly or smiled. Room was cleaned on alternate days. You must be able to climb many stairs to access the hotel and rooms. Restaurant food was not great, but location provided for great views. Best thing was going to sleep to the sound of the waves. Wifi good in restaurant, spotty in the room.Spending time on Taboga requires one to be able to fall into the relaxing island rhythms, not much to do....

Kitchen chaos.
Our dining experience at Hotel Tropical Vereda was terrible and for this reason I would never return or recommend this hotel to anyone. Overpriced entree sized dishes with no flavour.

Amazingly safe and friendly community. Location of the hotel facing the sea is second to none. Easy to walk to the beaches (ferry to Panama-city incl) and hike numerous trails. Limited English spoken by the hosts. Could be considered as advantage and disadvantage.

An Island Jewel
Hotel Vereda was just plain awesome with its great views and excellent staff. The food was traditional and excellent. Some may have issue with lack of Internet access in their rooms. You're on the beautiful Island of Flowers and need to be outside exploring. Nonetheless, good access is available in the common areas. This is my 4th trip to Taboga but first stay at Hotel Vereda. I was impressed with the quality of construction and attention to small details.
