We recently stayed at the Fairmount Chateau which is in a beautiful location, but felt completely overcharged. We spent four nights in a lake view room on the 8th floor, paying an exorbitant $1200 USD per night, and the experience didn't come close to meeting our expectations.
The room was tiny, stuffed with oversized, worn furniture, and poorly designed. The bathroom was shockingly small, with split-hinged doors that made it feel more like an old saloon than a luxury hotel. The tub was peeling, baseboards were chipped and dirty, and the plastic toilet seat was scratched beyond the point where it should be replaced. There was almost no counter space, and two people couldn't use the bathroom without bumping into each other.
To make matters worse, construction from 8 AM to 6 PM ruined the view and added noise, making the stay even more disappointing. While the staff was great, the room was nowhere near worth the $1200 price tag. The hotel management should be embarrassed by the condition of room 833.
