Near OC Fairgrounds and airport, Best Western Plus Newport Mesa Inn, is noisy and underwhelming. Our room was humid with a strong perfume smell. The bed was comfy but had only a sheet and thin cover, with no extra bedding. An ice machine woke us at 6 AM, followed by maid carts at 7 AM. The hotel’s pervasive perfume odor was off-putting.
When we arrived around midnight, two shirtless men on the patio—possibly guests or homeless—made my wife feel unsafe, ruining our stay. She wanted to leave immediately but we had already paid for the room. The breakfast buffet, across from the lobby, wasn’t self-serve, with skimpy portions. Arriving at 8:30 AM, we found most food gone, as service ends at 9 AM. Staff stacked chairs around us while we ate, making us feel unwelcome. Coffee required a trip to the lobby and the orange “juice” was Tang or SunnyD.
The room’s smart TV had two black lines across the screen, distracting at times. It only offered live TV, YouTube and AccuWeather without a personal device.
Noise, an unwelcoming vibe, and poor amenities made this stay unpleasant. We don’t recommend [Hotel Name] and won’t return.
