Overall disappointed with the stay. For a foreigner like me traveling to Lucerne for the first time, I didn’t realize that this hotel was difficult to get to. It is located in the walking district so driving your car there was weird as you had to navigate through hundreds of people and tight corners. We also had to park at a different hotel to be able to valet the car, as the hotel itself did not have a front desk. If you don’t have a car you won’t run into these problems.
After that, we go up to our room which was pretty dusty and dirty, more than what I would expect. This hotel was also built in the 1500s so there was no air conditioning. This was a bit of a pain for us as it was really hot out. We opened the windows at night for a breeze which helped.
The next thing was the noise. Even though we were on the top floor, it was very noisy even after restaurants and shops closed. The church bell would ring loudly every 2 hours throughout the night, and the street cleaning cars started around 4am. Overall it was tough getting any sleep.
The staff was very friendly. Everything else was very poor. We are not likely to return, at least not in the summer and without a car.
