It’s an interesting hotel that has been sensitively created from an old mainline station building.
BUT it scores low on service. Checkin is entirely self-serve - you even programme your own room keys.
On this return occasion (and I use the hotel for proximity to Lime Street Station and the Liverpool Empire), I was allocated a room in categories significantly lower than booked. Once I noticed the error it was quickly resolved, but it’s worrying how there is no review of what’s booked versus what “the system” allocates.
Service throughout, but especially in the restaurant at breakfast, is poor.
Breakfast is a totally self-service buffet and staff seem uninterested and demotivated.
When a manager turned up, there was a significant gear change in activity, but it was a poor experience … and one without even any orange juice.
The breakfast buffet here is also never great. Several times I’ve eaten here and, on every occasion, the bacon is cooked under a heat lamp and hot plate until almost all moisture has gone from it and just hard, dry bacon remains.
