Smelly room ruined the experience.
I am sorry to say I was very unsatisfied with my stay this time. Last year I stayed at the same hotel, in the main building. My room then was good and clean with a balcony. (Only wierd thing was that the toilet door didn’t reach the ceiling so that would have been an awkward thing if travelling as a pair.)
However this time I got one of the terrace rooms, on the ground floor. As soon as I opened the door there was a very unpleasant, pungent smell hitting me. It was the underlying note of sewer smell but covered up with some horrific room freshner. I even heard a beep in the bathroom so my guess is that they had an automatic fragrance dispenser.
I knew the hotel was fully booked so I didn’t bother to ask for a new room, and I didn’t have much time before my dinner reservation so I went with it. Returning from the restaurant a civilization of anta had taken over the floors so I kept my shoes on. I laid in the bed while the pungent smell filled my lungs, slowly getting so familiar I didn’t notice it, but still I felt like I was being marinated in toilet smell. My only hope was to fall asleep quickly so I could go outside in the morning. However, that soon proved to be impossible as by midnight, a car alarm on the hotel parking started to go off, and then kept calling every quarter for two hours before anyone had located the owner.
Anyway, I woke up, took a shower and then went outside to fill my lungs with air. Stating to myself that next time, I will pick another hotel.
